First block of 5

On one of the pod casts this week, if I heard the stat correctly; no recently promoted team who got 8 points from their first 5 fixtures has ever been relegated. There’s the target!

Hoping for 7 but think 4 is probably the more likely. I think the Brighton and Forest games will give us a good sense of the sort of 'gap' we are looking at having come up. This early in the season it can be a bit of a lottery too, we just need to hope we can get moving quickly and keep momnetum from last season.

I'm with the 7 brigade, beat Hull and Brighton and draw at Forest, could push up to 9 as I'm in Zante for the Forest game so cheering on 3 points in a Zante sports bar would top the holiday

What have I missed about Brighton? I’d have thought Forest was the easier game. Just cos were at home?

Arsenal L
Hull W
Man City L
Brighton D
Forest L

Yes, though Forest do seem fancied to do alright this season. I'm optimistic we can get something from either game but reality could well be different. I probably have a deep seated bias for Brighton being lower league trash that clouds things for me too.

To me, it's catching these mid table teams early, get into them and they won't know what's happened to them

I just saw an interview with Lampard where the reporter asked if he will carry on with the fist pumps and he said 'if and when we get a win'

Not going to even imagine a world where we don’t take 3 points off Hull.

I think we get a point at either Arsenal or Man City.

If we go into Brighton game with 4 points, I’d say we either win against Brighton or take a point at Forest.

So I’m saying 4 to 7.

We couldn't beat Hull last season. Obviously, I hope we can this but it's not a given. Getting anything out of Brighton will be a task too, they are effectively where we want to be in a few years.

I'm still optimistic, but don't get too despondent if we score very badly in these first few.

The Manchester city match is winnable.
This is not be Man Cuty off old with Pep, take out Mr Harland and they look very ordinary and their defence looks vonerable
A week is a long time in the Premier League.

0 points. Maybe 1 if we can shit out a draw at home to Brighton.

A "like" feels like betrayl, but it's hard to see how we getting much more than that. Hope springs eternal though, so let's not get too despondent. Talk of giving him the boot after half a dozen games is stupefying.

I've realised that if you read this in the voice of the policeman from 'Allo 'Allo! it makes sense.

And just to add, any big boobies in Manchester next week would be much appreciated 👍

Southampton were the last team promoted team to stay up after losing their first 3 games that was 13 years ago.

We need a good performance in next 2 games.. one where we can say the result may not go our way but there is decent performance and fight from the team.

Can’t see us getting anything in our away games. Brighton looking good, so would be a surprise if we managed to get something. Reason why yesterday was so damaging.

Loving your confidence. But a lucky 1 point is probably more realistic.
Ideally, we'd be playing Brighton next, but I think we'll see a reaction and a change in tactics.

I'd like to see us switch to a 3-5-2
We need more upfront, and 1 striker up there isnt enough against PL defences, and our wingers havnt been productive enough as yet. (Very early days yet of course)
The signing of Mfuni (at LCB) would give us the pace weve been lacking in defence and Pinnock adds the experience.

Fair fucks for going to Arsenal and giving it a go trying to play football, but I’ve been saying this for a while now - Pinnock, Amenda and Bobby at the back, two WBs (probably Mfuni and MVE now), three of Onyeka, Caleb, Hamer and Rudoni in midfield, then two up top, or play four in the middle with wingers, and two from the above, one of which is a ‘false 9’

we need pace, aggression, creativity and a threat going forwards and someone who isn’t afraid to break the line or try a risky (forward) pass / run with the ball and take a man on

One down and maybe a point shy of where we wanted to be at a minimum.

Next five:

Newcastle (H)
Spurs (A)
Fulham (H)
Sunderland (H)
Everton (A)

Got to the one of the easier blocks you’d think. Three home games and a couple of aways you’d back us to get something.

Going for an optimistic 7 points here.
