the match day experience (1 Viewer)

It’s all about what happens on the pitch. Do people actually go to the match to watch the scoreboard for 90 minutes, turn up 30 minutes before KO and make it their business to listen to every song that’s played? Jeez! If Doug was giving away free Hot Dogs some would say the mustard wasn’t very nice.
Mark my words-with one or two good performances and victories nobody will give a crap about whats on the scoreboard.

With each passing game I hate COV COV COV, Motor City, non Sky BLue kit, and that fucking elephant design that is appearing everywhere more and more (not you, Sam!). And the butchering of WLADITT as previously mentioned. Feels like our identity is eroding.

Bring back our proper colours and start using PUSB everywhere again (its still the title of the programme so they can't be that fussed about trademark infringement).
The kit doesn't bother me. The "it had to be cov" stuff is silly.

The cutting of the pre-match playlist covering the terrace songs is such a bewilderingly poor decision that must have been made by some suit with no knowledge of the club. Reminds me of that Sunderland Til I Die clip of the fan liaison practically begging the new Director to play songs with an emotional connection to the fans and club, and the Director being like nah nah play Sandstorm, the plebs love that one
Doug's son isn't it, head of marketing? I think he made the decision to change the team doing the screen, the whole day feels like how much cash can we take you for, people raise the issue of shit beer and food choices so they put the prices up. I'll be drinking elsewhere from now on and getting to the stadium in time to get in and take my seat.

Have to agree. Previously, the atmosphere seemed to build in the ground before kick off. Play list of songs that got people singing, sky blue song then WLADITT. Not sure if I missed it, but all seemed to be gone yesterday other than WLADITT.

Everything just feels a bit off at the moment like our character is being replaced with generic premier league club.
all gone Corporate, init bruh????? ( it's fucking shit is what it is )

I normally turn up before kick off, miss the queues (although now there seems to be a queue even if you get there earlier), watch the warm ups, chat to the people where I sit. It used to be a decent build up, you'd feel the atmosphere building as we got closer to kick off.

Now its just flat and I'm not sure you can just blame performances as it was like that building up to Hull, that should have been a bouncing atmosphere with it being our firm PL game in 25 years.

As for the scoreboard I find that when I look up hoping to be able to check who an opposition player is its showing the game I'm sat watching, on a few seconds delay. Then when something happens that you'd want to see a replay of you look up and it cuts to an advert.

Half time just seems an indication of how things have changed. Anything supporter related gone and replaced by a load of adverts.

I saw someone wearing a fake home shirt yesterday but it was actually a closer shade to sky blue than the real thing and it looked loads better.
The Cov thing is really starting to grate, but I think all these things are being amplified by the current results.

Half time in particular is very odd. The pitch is half empty so there is definitely room to do kick it for a ticket or something to keep fans attention.

One thing did stand out yesterday for me, I sit on the end of the row and just before the SBA chant started up, all the people leaving were faces I've rarely seen before, and during it I looked around and everyone was a long time fan. Do we have so many people going now, who've never seen us under the cosh and will walk away if we get relegated??

Contrary to some on here who thought it was applauding a dog shit performance, it was a spontaneous chant in support of the team who are under tons of pressure and need a lift!!! What else can we as fans do??

Obviously match days are a lot more fun when we're scoring for fun and top of the league but ignoring what's on the pitch does anyone else feel like pretty much everything to do with a match day has gone downhill?

You get to the ground to huge fucking queues that don't move because nobody seems able to work the digital ticketing system, or there's a major problem with it, not sure which but it shouldn't take that long to get people in.

The f&b seems to have managed the impossible and got worse. Prices have gone up, the selection has got worse. And forget getting anything at half time unless you want to miss 15 minutes of the game, which to be fair would have been a plus today.

You get to your seat and the pre-match build up just doesn't seem to generate anything but apathy. We used to at least attempt to play stuff that would get the crowd going, even if it didn't always work, but now it's just bland background noise.

They've managed to do the near impossible and fuck up WLADITT by insisting on going with two choruses which confuses everyone every game.

During the game there's a shit, delayed, video feed of the match you're sat there watching but every time you look up for a replay they change it to a fucking advert.

All the birthdays and messages at half time have gone, replaced with adverts. No kick it for a ticket, as shit as it was at least it was something. No local bands being played at half time anymore.

The whole thing feels like you could be at any ground in the country.
Completely agree with all of this. The pre-match build-up is awful. What is the point of the fireworks before every game? Doing it every week just makes them meaningless. Save them for a genuinely big game when they might actually feel special. Yesterday there seemed to be a huge gap before WLADITT. I also thought it was slightly ironic that they now seem to be paying Ghost Town each week. That was the last track that played before WLADITT at the Hull game. I turned to my mate and joked that I hope they aren't trying to give us a hint about the season we’re going to have.

Plain and Simple this thread doesn't even happen if we was winning.

Cos the footballs shite resukts even worse we are going home depressed /angry . Of course we are going to complain about everything. Alot of hard earned money spent on match days just to feel like shit.

Yeah I saw some fake shirts yesterday and they were much more sky blue.

I can only imagine the Chinese manufacturer got hold of the blueprint and thought "They are trying to mug us off like they did last year by making us think it was going to be aquamarine. Now they are trying to mislead us into thinking they are going to produce a kit in Huddersfield's colours. Well we're not falling for it, we're making it sky blue like the actual kit will be."

Is that right about his son being head of marketing? Not listed as such on the website who’s who.

There definitely seems to be something going on behind the scenes. Doug has become totally anonymous, apart from a panic message telling fans to get to the ground at 2.00pm vs Hull. Communication over the summer has been virtually non-existent. The people "running" the Club seem to want us to be Man Utd or Chelsea, when we should be Coventry City, and remember our past and where we have come from. Tourists are not going to watch Coventry vs Hull. Doug is trying to scrape every penny from Premier League package holders. It will be interesting to see how many seats are taken in the Expensive blocks on Wednesday. Of 5 in our group only 2 are going.

None of what you said is true ? Anyway, what do you want Doug to say?

So it is not true that only 2 out of our group of 5 are going on Wednesday, amazing how you know this. Do you think that the "tourists" Doug wants would have gone to City vs Hull? Do you think it is right that the loyal fans who sit in the "better" seats are being charged £40 on Wednesday for a 3rd Round League Cup game?

Being crass about it, Doug’s only concern is maximising the income (and therefore the value) of the club so that he gets a larger offer when he wants to sell.

I would have stayed and joined in but felt rough (glad the game wasn't on Saturday I will say that). It was great to hear though and just hope it does inspire the players knowing the fans are right with them

That feeds off the players though, even in the interview with EMC yesterday you could tell.

It's like we are just happy to be there, the dopey kid at sports day who has got out of maths so is chuffed but can't actually run. (before anybody says it, I was rapid at school, still dopey).
Surely EMC’s demeanour was more about the fact that we’d just been stuffed 5-0 at home? At the end of the game the fans were brilliant (those that were left!) The only thing to say is can’t we generate that kind of emotional, passionate support during the game?

Got in early y/day only to hear ghost town, not only is it the wrong specials song to play but also sounds terrible screeching through the pa system. Seemed like a londoner had googled cov music and went for the top result
We used to come back out for the second half to Gangsters (I think?), shame that it's now just nothing

WLADITT

Not sure how people are upset that the chorus goes round twice, that is just how the song goes and it happened last season a lotof the game hadn't kicked off by the time the first 2 lines of the chorus had been played.

Also it's a very mid song but it sounds better to let the chorus fully play

I dont get why people thought it was Rudoni sent off? Apparently CWR thought it and a couple of people in the match thread put it too.
Seperate to this appraisal but how long did the substitutions take after the red seemed like ages?

Seems to have been replaced with generic grunge, absolute dirge !

SkyBluePete one for the next meeting?? stop fucking about with our pre-game tunes and no more fucking Ghost Town to come out to ffs!!!

Prem generic knock off shit just don't cut it!!

I know some dont care about match experience bar on the pitch.

But getting the music right and setting the mood is important. We need to tweak things and try not to be so depressing.

Is there some sort of stupid prem rule on going on the pitch for things like kick it for a ticket ?

Since we are talking about the stadium partly. When are they doing to finish the job with the plexiglass around the side and panting?

On the topic, why have we stopped doing birthday mesgs. Was a nice personal touch. Everything is so clinical atm

Some preferred to walk out…A bit like the Leicester fans do nowadays. I guess they started something special?

It's because he walked straight to the dug out, it looked from a distance he was walking off the pitch but he just got a drink and instructions.

They seem to have filled in the bits of painting they'd missed, at least on the casino side of the ground. Thought it was a good sign then went for a piss to discover the sinks seem to have disintegrated.

The pricing is wrong anyway.
There is a flaw in their strategy.

Should have been £25 for 19/20/21 and £20 elsewhere.

I'd expect him to feel off about his contribution, bring it Boho!

Blues fans again or caustic piss?

Who gives a fuck about the match day experience. Why do people expect? Silver service? A guest celebrity chef every week with Michelin starred menus?

Win football matches is all that matters
