Ovation at the end. (1 Viewer)

I haven't got a problem with it but I'm pretty sure our fans will be singing 'were shit and we know we are' within a couple of months.

Personally saw it quite differently.

Didn’t see it as an ovation at all as I’d have wanted nothing to do with that. Today was as horrible, horrible showing.

I saw it as supporters cheering for their club, showing regardless of who the players/staff/owners are, we will always support the club.

It wasn’t about individuals - on or off the pitch - it was about showing we aren’t plastics only supporting when it goes well.

I am absolutely not defending the team or Frank (or Doug). This is not an excuse for the performance.

It was a siege mentality fans wise, à la that L2 season - for those who were around.

We were in block 10 and some of the away supporters turned and clapped our fans for supporting the team at the end of that thumping !

Shame the support and atmosphere got good once the game was lost. Thought it was poor while we still had something to play for.
I hate to say this, but I agree. Same for Hull. I think we don’t truly think we belong along with the players.

It wasn't really an ovation as such, more a display of defiance. "If half the stadium want to fuck off and by fickle, there are still some of us who support you when the chips are down"

It boils my piss how fickle certain fans are. Against Hull, first premier league game for 25 years there were people steaming out on 80 minutes when we were chasing an equaliser.

Didn't leave early against Hull, although the chasing the equaliser is doing some heavy lifting there. Awoniyi was dead on his feet about 60 minutes, we had used all of our subs and still kept 1 up front.

Is it fickle to have left early today?

There’s a massive difference between booing the team off (which is uncalled for) and giving them a standing ovation.

I always stay to the end, but I’m not happy clapping like a seal for a performance that fucking woeful. These players and manager need to wake up sharpish, otherwise we’re going down as the worst top flight team ever.
I think everyone was shell shocked into a clapping trance!

So proud of the fans for not turning on the team at the final whistle.

It's performative bollocks.

People have parted with big money and made sacrifices to still back the side. They can and should do what the fuck they want, if thats booing so be it if its leaving early so be it

Staying behind and clapping and singing a side thats just been smashed 5 nil at home, hasn't scored a single goal in the league and look so far off the level isn’t some sort of medal worthy achievement, its letting players know that the bollocks they've been serving up is seemingly acceptable.

There's a difference between booing / abusing the players and simply just going home.

Seems like half the influencers and youtubers or whatever they are now need to go to a singing club or something and have watched too much football factory.

Isn't you claiming you were flouncing off until October performative bollocks?

Is it like giving awards for people who come last on sports day?
This is unfortunately the culture and society we live in, god forbid someone gets upset.

Why the majority of the younger generations all feel entitled to something and don’t want to put in any effort. Because even being shit at something is deserving of an award apparently

I think it was him at Arsenal, sadly I ended up near him. c**t didn't even look at the game, spent all the time looking at their fans and acting hard. 2 issues, their fans were random tourists and kids and the other one was that he had the comfort of hiding behind a steward.

I was hoping one of them would jump the barrier and bitch slap him. His arse would have fallen out.

Missing the point here completely. It clearly wasn't about today's game in isolation, but a show of support to the team that the fans are still behind them despite the poor start to season.

Would you rather the entire fanbase left at 80 mins, or those who stayed booed the team off at full time?

I don't really do booing, I don't usually leave early but did today.

When the players and manager put up a good fight then it's completely different to today. How long does the credit from last season last? How long does the "journey" mean that performances like today are acceptable?

I don’t get this attacking other fans stuff. Do the “plastics” hold their hands over the mouths of the “true” fans or glare at them for singing?

It’s all “super fan” nonsense for show, just like using the term “plastics” is.

Again not sure if I'm just old but it's weird. Probably the male version of those women who give it the "just me and the kids from now on" and brag about what they have bought Shaylen for Christmas.

You are wrong we dont look far off the level, we were competitive against Man City, we should have beat Hull, we were competitive today until the red card we had so many chances, we should have a lot more goals
