First of all he has been on the bench most of the time, not just some imjury. Pep just does not like him for whatever reason. No new contract offered. He is the quality we have to have in our squad. We will be paying prem wages, get used to it. 250k a week is nonsense as well. A player like him will be looking to stay in the prem, play regular and get a contract to steady his future. That may well be achievable on a lower wage, but yes 80k/week for a few additions is what we have to get used to if we are to stay up.Jesus wept.
He's played 7 league games this season due to injury and is on 250 bags a week.
To be fair to him he managed 11 league games last season.![]()
Yes we aren't gonna go for StonesPeople need to temper their expectations and be realistic
He’s 31 with an horrific injury record, he would command nowhere near thatOk so look at it this way...
Stones would command what 10m, 18m transfer fee? We get him for free and pay him 100k a week for two years, help us stay up which would cost around 12m in wages. 2 years in the prem would be rich pickings and establish ourselves. Now Stones or a similar player like it makes sense wouldn't you say?
OK I would'nt say 'horiffic' by any stretch. here's his injury record. He’s 31 with an horrific injury record, he would command nowhere near that
He won't be coming here. He is not what we need really, way too much risk. We will push our budgets and top wage brackets but we won't be getting anyone who is currently on 250k per week to make a drop even to 100k. Stones will get offers at established clubs for way more than we could or even should consider.Ok so look at it this way...

People saying they wouldn't take John Stones understand that the combination of the wages he would command Vs his injury record and risk, is a massive risk for the club. Plus he would never come here.People saying they wouldn’t take John stones
He will go somewhere far superior to us on wages we couldn’t afford anyway. Elite level cb when fit. Heard Italy mentioned, would make sense and he could probably manage injuries better there.
Pep don't want to play him because he will more than likely get injured again, he makes Ben Sheaf look like an every game playerFirst of all he has been on the bench most of the time, not just some imjury. This is the type of theory y'all have to get your head around.
His wages are irrelevant when his contract expires.Jesus wept.

Obviously he is not going to be unemployed. He won’t be on a pay as you play either. He’ll get offered a decent contract by someone else. His wages are irrelevant when his contract expires.
It always amazes me when people quote what someone WAS on when they are about to be unemployed.
The question is, would he rather be unemployed or sign for another club on a "pay as you play" contract for a year?
As far as the game time goes, he does play for the best team in the Premier league, so competition is intense, so you could argue that hes got fewer miles on the clock than you'd expect, and theres no arguing about his quality or experience.
Although having said all that, in this particular case, he doesn't fit any of Doug King's usual criteria, (age, sell on potential etc) so I highly doubt we'd have any interest in him.
