Resurrecting this one to see if anyone else is having the same problem I am getting their booster.
There's an 'improved' system in place for Spring 2026. Not sure why it needed changing as I've had no issues to date getting boosters but I guess someone is getting paid for this.
So the new process for me so far has been:
text from NHS to say I'm in the at risk group and need to book a booster
text from GP to say I'm in the at risk group and need to book a booster but they no longer do them (not a problem, had them done at the pharmacy in the past for convenience)
during an appointment with my consultant at the hospital get reminded it is important to get my booster
book an appointment for the booster
attend appointment to be told there's a shortage and I'll have to rebook
attend rebooked appointment and get told I need some proof of eligibility (never been asked before). Asked what I needed as proof and they couldn't tell me, helpful.
appointment with GP to try and get proof of eligibility, they know nothing about this requirement and don't have anything they provide
Stuck now between a pharmacy who won't proceed without some unknown for of eligibility proof and a GP who has no idea what it is they're asking for.
But of course if I pay the pharmacy £100 they can do it immediately.

That’s not good !! It shouldn’t be that difficult particularly if you are in a vulnerable group
while it’s not the same last year I wanted a PSA test but the medical centre said they would only check Urine - however this morning on a blood test the nurse was only too happy to include the PSA test ( which I know costs them more than A cholesterol test )

Personally think anyone getting the boosters for this are mad. Its been clinically proved it can cause issues with the heart, myocarditis etc amongst other things. The risk from Covid killing anyone now is so miniscule it doesnt even warrant worrying about.
Me personally I had my 2, never had one again had Covid once that I know of and I was just a bit tired. And I have asthma and a heart condition, so youd imagine id be in the in the shit category yet no
Flu jab, clinically proven to work with minimal side effects, same with meningitis, tetanus etc etc

I'm 72 next month and had the first two Jabs (Astra Zeneca),I qualify to get free COVID and Flu jabs but haven't either for 5 years now.
My Wife has had COVID 4 times (whilst working in Care) to be fair she was very poorly the first two times she had COVID,I never caught it and we carried on at home in the normal way same bed etc.
When COVID was rife literally every one in my extended family got it except me and I had mixed with several of them.

I keep getting texts from my GP for flu & covid jabs, never had one and the only times I've ever had a flu like illness was about 40 years ago which laid me out for a week till I got some antibiotics to clear up a post viral pneumonia and I also had to have 1/2 day in bed in 2022 and took a couple of days to recover from a cough.
Anyway believe what you want, that's my experience, I am sticking to my plan of dodging pills and jabs unless I'm actually symptomatic and you're all free to do as you please.

Best thing to do to get a PSA test, is just to lie about any symptoms you may have.
This advice was given to me by a health care professional, after I`d asked for one at the GP`s and had been told I wasn`t eligible because I didn`t have symptoms that warrant a test- this was despite being over fifty and having to get up at least once during the night for a piss, more if I`ve had a drink.
Lying worked and it turned out that I did have an enlarged prostate !
