Championship team of the season (4 Viewers)

We won't get 6, it will be 2-3 max. There has only been 4 from one team twice - Readings record breaking 106 season and the Newcastle team packed full of stars under Benitez. There has never been 5 or more from 1 team.
We’ve also not had player performing at an ‘elite’ level all season round. Torp, Onyeka, Rudoni, BTA and Simms have all had patches where they’ve lead the league in ‘x, y and z’ categories but not year round.

Torp went 17 appearances between his 7th and 8th goals with only 3 assists to show for it in between. If he’d hit 10-15 goals he’d almost certainly be in the conversation.

You can't look past Lampard or Neil imo. Both us and Millwall have massively surpassed expectations and we've dominated the league this season bar a mid season blip.
This isn't me saying Lampard shouldn't get it. I'm looking for the reason they don't give it to Lampard.

This definitely works if Wharton earns a move, less so if he stays. I can’t imagine a midfield pair of those two works as neither are particularly strong defensively. To code switch to England for a moment, Anderson being a much stronger defensive midfielder is why he should start with Rice.

If Boro bottle it and don’t go up, Hackney would be a fantastic signing but at 23 with a high ceiling, he’s gonna attract a better club than us. I don’t think he’s better than Rudoni as an AM tbh.

If Millwall do finish 2nd there’s a strong case Neil gets it. It would be a greater shock them finishing 2nd than us winning it all.

That’s all I can think of.

Get the argument, and it would be an immense achievement.
But it wouldn't trump Lampard for me.

To win the league so emphatically with relatively low transfer spend and wage bill is an amazing feat, not just this season, but any season.

I agree with this, it would be a slap in the face, if we hit 96 points, that’s on par with Maresca’s Leicester on a fraction of the spend.

Comparatively, the race for 2nd is looking like it’ll be close to a record low. I also don’t think Millwall will finish 2nd.

Just as I typed this, Norwich go 2-1 up! Promotion v Wednesday is ON!

And small squad in comparison.

Form over 18 month's as well!
That's proved to be fundamental to our success, got us ahead the parachute team's.

I think Palace is Hackney's best option if they are in for him. They are an established Prem Team with a track record of developing up young talent. Showed a lot of faith in Adam Wharton and have helped develop him, and Will Hughes turns 31 this month, so will get his opportunities.
Would take Will Hughes then in the circular economy

4-4-2:

Rushworth
Brittain
Harwood-Bellis
Thomas
Manning
Azeez
Hackney
Louza
Scienza
Wright/Vipotnik (the top scorer)
McBurnie

Honourable mentions:
Grimes
Crama
Targett
Torp
Keiffer Moore
Fatawa
Hamer
Whittaker
Thomas
Ayling
Peretz - arguably better than Rushworth
Louza? Seriously? He's tossed it off half of the season.

For me this is it:

GK - Rushworth (Coventry)
RB - Crama (Millwall)
CB - Thomas (Coventry)
CB - Harwood-Bellis (Southampton)
LB - Tymon (Swansea)
DM - Grimes (Coventry)
CM - Hackney (Middlesbrough)
AM - O’hare (Sheff Utd)
RW - Azeez (Millwall)
ST - McBurnie (Hull)
LW - Mason-Clark (Coventry)

Mcburnie?? over Vipotnik and Wright? interesting….

I’d also throw Callum Doyle into the mix as I think he’s had a very good season playing (I think) predominantly as a LB

I think Vipotnik is bang average, Wright hasnt done enough this season, he’s been very inconsistent, had extended spells on the sideline, McBurnie however had lead the line well for Hull and is a key factor for them, 13G and 7A shows a striker that is involved not just in finishing moves but actually a key part to attacks also contributing defensively to Hull and leads their press well from the front I also just dont think there’s many good CFs in the division this year, most of the talent is in the midfield or out wide

You might think Vipotnik is bang average, but on seasons performance he has been outstanding scoring 20 goals against an xG 11.2. that's phenomenal and is rightly a shoe in for the team of the season.

For comparison Wright has scored 16 goals against an xG of 16.

Yes but again McBurnie is a big reason Hull are up so high in the table and has had a great year also, Wright should have scored more but he’s been inconsistent and had spells out

Mc Burnie’s been great for them but he’s missed too much through injury to be in contention imo.

We’ve had the best attack throughout. Would be a bit weird if that wasn’t represented in TOTS so I think EMC should get it over Jack Clarke but who knows?

According to his xG, Wright has scored as many as he should have done this season.
xG doesnt account for the ones like against Hull where he didnt even bust a gut to get on the end of good balls in, also Im not one of the “Wright is lazy” club I dont think he is I just think he’s been inconsistent and should have more goals

Some lad from the Sheff Utd podcast did an ENGLAND EFL team

Rushworth, Grimes and Rudoni our nailed on starters in the first 11

Simms, Eccles and Thomas all considered.

Starting forward ended up as Carlton Morris ! But probably shows the lack of English talent in that position .

I think people are missing the point

12 points clear at the top
84 goals scored
Not all our players can be as shit as we say they are surely

Don't think anyone's saying Grimes is shit Pete, just that Louza is better. Don't agree personally.

Edit - thought you were on about the Louza vote Pete, not Haji

I don't agree with the Grimes /Louza debate either. I would say that good teams are the sum of it's parts, the right blend of players with the right tactics, etc and not necessarily the collection of the best players. Which is why teams may and will have better players than us in certain positions.
