They were poor yesterday

A bit of me does wonder if them and Boro know the autos are over and will save themselves for the POs a bit now. Seems mad to say but Ipswich with two games in hand and their squad just seem unassailable to me.

They have to get the points though, and it's 7 fixtures in 3 weeks. By no means a given whatsoever.

Can come from us gaining points or Ipswich dropping points so:

Sat 11th April
City v Sheffield Wed
Norwich v Ipswich

(Min 4 points to title if both go our way - 7 if we both win)

Tuesday 14th April
Portsmouth v Ipswich

(Min 1 point to title)

Friday 17th April
Blackburn v City

(Earliest we could win title)

Sun 19th April
Ipswich v Boro

Tuesday 21st April
City v Portsmouth

Wednesday 22nd April
Charlton v Ipswich

Saturday 25th April
WBA v Ipswich

Sunday 26th April
City v Wrexham

When do you reckon we win it?

Pompey at home for me.
Ipswich have some tough fixtures, Norwich who certainly won't want to do them any favours, Boro. Southampton. Wrexham.

Not really, Boro play Ipswich and Ipswich have back to back away games v Southampton and Norwich who are the form teams of 2026 so far.

Millwall just don’t have the quality to see the job through imo. If they don’t lose to Pompey or Blackburn, their position in 2nd is much stronger.

I reckon Ipswich have got 4 fairly routine wins of the seven left. That leaves Boro needing four wins from five to match them then needing more points than Ipswich manage in the other three. It’s a big ask.

Ipswich are in pole position, but they’re level on points with Millwall and Boro. The former have got a couple of things going against them:
1) fixture congestion
2) 1.44 ppg from their away games - with 5 to play

I’ve backed Ipswich all season for 2nd, but there’s plenty to play for. If Boro beat Ipswich away, it would prove decisive. My personal view is that Ipswich will win that and finish 2nd, unfortunately.

I would make Norwich strong favourites for the game Saturday myself

Ipswich's record in that fixture, particularly at Carrow Road is absolutely dire in recent years and I just think since the turn of the year Norwich have shown themselves to be a better side - If the season was going on a couple of weeks longer they would end up in the play-offs

So unless they catch us they can’t catch us. We aren’t likely to lose all our games and then win them anyway but over 5 games a 22 goal difference is under 5 goals a game so a 2-0 loss and a 3-0 win which is hardly unachievable.
For 4 matches not 5, if we win Saturday we're on 87 and can only be caught on GD with 4 matches remaining.

So it's 22 GD over 4 matches which is about a 6 goal swing per match. Could happen for one match but it's not happening 4 games in a row.

Win Saturday and its job done.

Us losing every game from there and then winning isn’t happening either. But mathematical is mathematical.

Norwich have an outside shout of playoffs. Putting aside the obvious incentive to win a rivalry game, they need the points to stay in the mix for playoffs.

A draw tonight and it’s game on for them. A win either way probably puts them out of reach realistically.

Portsmouth pencilled in for me, we needed to win last night for it to be against Sheffield Wednesday I think
It’s still on for Saturday but Millwall (away at WBA) and Boro (home v Pompey) need to drop points which isn’t likely imo.

We could confirm the title v Blackburn if we beat them and Ipswich drop 4 points v Norwich, Pompey and Boro.

Unlikely but we best start supporting Pompey on the side if we want to wrap this up asap! 😂

There's also their relegation tussle with Leicester as a good reason to be cheering Portsmouth on.

If Leicester can’t beat Sheffield Wednesday, who can they beat?

Looking at their fixtures, they’re gone imo. They’ve got Hull and Millwall at home (two of the best away teams) and they’re away at Pompey and Blackburn.

If they can’t beat Swansea at home who are more or less on the beach (figuratively and literally), where’s their run of wins coming from?
