City just need to keep picking up points... it is now simply a matter of time. Tick tock tick tock.

Boro playing well against Swansea. I'm a bit torn on them leading TBH, at one level I should be hoping they drop points, but I'd much prefer them to grab 2nd spot rather than Ipswich and realistically they need 3 points tonight to have a fair shot at that given they have to play each other still and games in hand.
Huh. I said this earlier and saddle called me stupid

If Millwall don’t beat West Brom on Friday, and Ipswich don’t beat Norwich on Saturday…

And we beat Sheffield Wednesday… ⬆️

And Middlesbrough don’t beat Portsmouth

It's not just that though is it?

So, if we win on Saturday and neither Millwall and Boro win, we are officially up

Lets say the Boro and Millwall games are both draws.

That would put them both on 73 points with 4 games to go.

We win against Sheff Wed and we will be on 87 points

Ths max tally that Boro and Millwall can get then under that scenario is 85 points. 4 wins - 12 points. 73 plus 12 is 85.

So it doesn't matter about Ipswich. We win and Millwall and Boro fail to and we are up.

That's correct isn't it?

But even if Boro and Millwall win their next game, provided we beat Wednesday, our goal difference means Boro will have to turn around a goal difference of 21 in 4 games, or Millwall 33 in 4 games without considering any further change in GD in the next game.
So as an example that equates to us losing our last 4 games 3-0, 3-0, 3-0, 2-0, and Boro winning their 4 remaining games by the same sort of amount (including their game against Ipswich).

Yes. But from what I was talking about was in terms of being officially promoted, not that our GD is so great, it would take an absolute miracle for anyone to overtake us. That's obviously not official, though I do get your point

Boro and Millwall drop points and we win, then we are officially promoted and the only issue then to be sorted was whether or not Ipswich could pip us for first place
