I wonder when Gurney and Bailey will apologise to Doug King for that appalling fans forum. We all knew Robins had run out of time but some of the attendees were so narrowed minded.
the performances/start were poor and King had seen enough, like a business leader no allegiances and ruthless.
Lampard was a gamble, I wasn’t fully convinced but we needed a change and it proved to be a fantastic decision.
I’ll forgive the roll neck tops Doug ..you’ve taken the club on and delivered in all areas.

King has dealt with it brilliantly
He expects others to have opinions and hasn’t throw it in anyone’s faces

Honestly he’s OK. I don’t think he’s the second coming of Christ like some he’s an OK championship DM. He’s no Hamer or Boateng. He’s had as many poor games as good for me so far. Enjoy yourself though.
Ben Sheaf is an OK championship DM.

Nah. Not having “an OK Championship DM”. He’s very good. Accept that this may not translate to PL ready as I have my doubts but just because some are overhyping don’t fall too far the other way.

I’ve not seen as much from him as I have from Grimes Sheaf or Hamer who have played there for us since promotion. He’s a better 6 than Torp but I don’t think that’s Torps natural game. I’m not going to pretend to see something I don’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

The defensive side of his game which is what has helped us since he arrived is why hes been so important imo

there are better passers sure Screenshot_20260405_085419_Chrome.jpg

He’s a 6 Hackney is an 8. And I’ll note for you in particular that again when Lats wasn’t playing we conceded two goals. Before you attribute all our defensive improvement to Onyeka.

Ive tried to compare both rudoni and onyeka to hackney and been told i cant

The stats are the same for onyeka v sheaf tbh

My point is that whilst i agree lati has added valuable captain like experience to the back line the biggest issue we had was in midfield where the hole was so big you could have guided the titanic through it

If you watch onyeka even his tracking causes teams to shift a different way , he reads so much so well

Yeah we needed a better defensive mid than Torp and Allen and he is that. I just don’t think he’s miles above the rest of the squad iconic player ten times as good as hamer who we are going to build a PL team around (all quotes from here btw). He’s a decent Championship defensive mid.

We are top of the championship mate by 11 points .. most of our players already are far exceeding decent championship players

A lot of it is his sheer physicality. He’s not ‘quick’ but he has such large strides he eats up the ground. Can shield the ball phenomenally - probably better at drawing fouls than winning tackles.

Who’s said he’s 10 times better than Hamer? Because that’s not true.

Separatly, as Sheaf has been brought into the conversation, I think ‘peak Sheaf’ probably is better than Onyeka. For my money, that summer when Hamer left ruined Sheaf as we started asking him to do more. Always brilliant at that 6 role alongside Hamer.

In the match thread on Friday. Can’t remember who.

If we didnt sign frank onyeka we dont sit here now comfortable at the top imho

I don’t disagree. But I’d add if we didn’t bring Latibeaudiere in at CB too. It’s statistical fact that with him we don’t concede as many as without regardless of Onyeka.

Weve conceded 7 goals in 9 games since onyeka arrived and 1 was a diabolocal penalty call , unlucky not to be 6

I generally agree that lati has come in and replaced kitching well who has fell off a cliff form wise second half of the season

This is interesting, because intuitively I agree. But FotMob has recently started doing stats of ‘Goals Conceded whilst on Pitch’ and ‘XG Conceded whilst on Pitch’.

Whilst we don’t concede as many with Lati on the pitch, the XG is in a similar ball park to Kitching and Thomas so I don’t necessarily think it’s structural. I’ve long been a proponent that we need 2 new CBs for next season (well, I said this season but whatever).

7 in 11 while Lats is playing. In the games he’s missed in that run we’ve had two clean sheets against Preston and Swansea and conceded two in the other five.

Facts are that whilst we all moan about our centre backs we cant ignore our style of play which can often see defenders caught high up the pitch ( see derby penalty ) and will have us concede goals but you have to decide wether the trade off in attacking play is worth it .. we generally defend the box quite well
