Best team in the league everyone
Where do you start 😁

They play very nice football but are missing what we have. Goals all over the pitch. It becomes even more of a problem against sides that play low block and park the bus. Their manager only seems to know the one way to play. We showed everyone how to set up against them and they have struggled ever since. 6 wins on the bounce and 1st place by 2 points has changed to just 2 wins in 8, with 1st out of sight and 2 clubs just 2 points away and one has a game in hand.

I've just taken some ridiculous odds on Southampton taking 2nd. Middlesbrough are struggling, and if they don't turn it around quickly they will soon lose touch.

Ipswich have an awful run in their last 5 games of the season. 4 games in 9 days which includes away games at Charlton, WBA and Southampton on the bounce. They don't have to play again for 4 days then 😆

April

19th Middlesbrough H
22nd Charlton A
25th WBA A
28th Southampton A

May

2nd QPR H

Middlesbrough look in trouble. Ipswich are pulling themselves apart thanks to the Farage incident with an awful run of games to come. Millwall and Hull are holding on to the chase but Southampton are sprinting up on the outside. We've beat everyone except for Southampton since we beat Middlesbrough. Southampton have only lost once this year so far. They won away at Fulham to get into the QF of the FA cup against Arsenal next game. Southampton are certainly not a 100/1 shot with so much in their favour.

Boro remind me of us some games last season, remember games like Plymouth away where we would pop the ball about nicely but the other team would just sit in? That's basically them now.

I think I prefer being this side as we dont have the old cliche “probably the best side we’ve played this season, how arent they doing better etc”
Much better to be the team that has worked out how to play different types of games rather than a team that tries the same thing every game and becomes predictable.

Which we were also that team at one point this season! I do find it amusing reading “how are they top” “they’re nothing special” “they’re shite” “lucky” “… wouldnt even start for us” “in a … and Cov combined 11 next to none of them make it in”

Boro are definitely the best team in the league at playing one-touch five-a-side triangles around the edge of their own penalty box tbf. Rondo Kings!

If they win the QF then the players heads go to the semi and injury risk avoidance sets in. If they lose then the disappointment effects one or two games. Then its up to Mboro and Ipswich to take advantage if not the Southamptscum will roll in and take 2nd spot

I quite like Woy but it does feel like there must have been a massive fallout between Struber and the CEO for this to play out like this at this point in the season.

Injuries and player sales have played a part but considering how close the Robins were to second at end of November, I feel the margins in the Championship between success or otherwise are pretty fine.
Having 4 out of 5 central defenders out injured doesn't help. Struber spoke his mind publicly about transfers, contract issues and the academy and Lansdown won't be questioned let alone criticised. He's made it clear it's HIS club and we are a necessary inconvenience.
Doesn't bode well for us.

There's a long way to go for all sides.

We spoke about the problem of Southampton starting the season with a manager without the experience needed at some length. They are now on a great run. Undefeated in their last 14 games including the cup. Just glad they didn't change managers earlier.

My reasoning of giving Southampton a chance of 2nd is I can't decide who has the best chance. Ipswich with 4 games in 9 days with 3 of them away? Start the run with Middlesbrough at home. Middlesbrough are pretty to watch but struggle to get shots on target. Millwall and Hull?

For those who like a little dabble 100/1 to finish 2nd and a massive 7/2 for promotion. They will finish minimum in the playoffs, and when the playoff teams are finalised there's a very good chance of Southampton being short favourites.
