Oops 9
Some time between 23rd and 28th July would be perfect as I'm on holiday there at that timeMallorca away please.
Just been re-reading this. Its not so ridiculous nowThose odds for Southampton are ridiculous.
'Probably' is the word that we are trying to avoid. 'Certain' is better and more reassuringIf we manage to get 6 points from the next 2 games then home win against Sheffield Wednesday clinches promotion and probably the title.
Yes been a city fan far too long.'Probably' is the word that we are trying to avoid. 'Certain' is better and more reassuring
hopefully, but 4 would guarantee it,You won’t get two out of Ipswich Boro and Millwall to reach 86 definitely.
2 wins and we are promoted
3 wins and 2 draws mathematically seals it. But the chasing pack will drop points between now and then so it will be less.hopefully, but 4 would guarantee it,
We’ve got a free voucher to cash in v Sheff Wednesday after Easter. We've had 9. My initial calculation was 83 would be enough for promotion but the chasing pack increased their PPG slightly
And when I turned 50, we had been in the top division for 25 years! There’s a nice symmetry for us that turn 50 this year. First 25 years of life in the top tier, then 25 years out of it before (hopefully) returning
Of course we shouldn't need 3 wins for promotion. But as you then said we most probably need 3 wins plus for the titleStill find it nuts that people still think we need 3 or 4 wins
If we apply 2PPG To the chasing pack, which won't happen for the fact they play each other and law of averages aswell etc, then....
Boro - 85
Ipswich - 85
Millwall - 83
2 more wins and we are up, 86. It may even be the title, but let's say 3 more wins gets the title, 89.
Weve lost 7 in 39, We aren't just suddenly going to lose 6 of the last 7.
Its happening, its a case of when not if now
Blackburn is awayOf course we shouldn't need 3 wins for promotion. But as you then said we most probably need 3 wins plus for the title
The problem with saying we just need 2 wins for promotion is 2 sides also have to drop points, so winning the next 2 games most probably won't be enough for our promotion to be mathematically confirmed. Millwall have to keep winning to stay in the race, but we need them to lose 2 games and us win 2 games. Middlesbrough need to drop 7 points to make it mathematically safe with 2 wins for us. The 3rd win for us would speed along the inevitable. Ipswich could get 1 more points than Middlesbrough but have to win an extra game.
Looking at the games coming up if we win our next 2 games we could well be going for both promotion and Champions in the same game at home to Sheffield Wednesday. If the results haven't gone our way by now we're then at home to Blackburn and it's Ipswich v Middlesbrough. 2 big chances to do it at home.
Highly unlikely we get promoted v Sheff W and almost no chance of securing the title on that day.Of course we shouldn't need 3 wins for promotion. But as you then said we most probably need 3 wins plus for the title

Sort of as we’llhave more supporters than themBlackburn is away

Ipswich will have 6 games left so we'd need to be 19 points clear of them plus either 16 points clear of Mboro (who'd have 5 left as playing at 3pm) or 13 points clear of Millwall (4 left).
I meant Sheff W in response the Lamps post doh, have updatedIpswich will have 5 left and boro 3 won't they?
We need 11 points maximum to be promoted - A lot to ask but if we win both games over Easter and beat Sheffield Wednesday we would be guaranteed promotion away at Blackburn with a win. Lose 1 of these and win 3 we would be promoted at home to Portsmouth with a win.Highly unlikely we get promoted v Portsmouth and almost no chance of securing the title on that day.

Yep, agreed about Blackburn. It'd be nice to secure it with our 10th win in 11 games for sure.We need 11 points maximum to be promoted - A lot to ask but if we win both games over Easter and beat Sheffield Wednesday we would be guaranteed promotion away at Blackburn with a win. It could even be at home to Sheffield Wednesday if the 3 below us drop points (remember Middlesbrough are playing Millwall on Good Friday)
2 draws for Boro v Millwall and Swansea A, plus 2 wins for us, means that a win v Sheff Weds guarantees promotion.Yep, agreed about Blackburn. It'd be nice to secure it with our 10th win in 11 games for sure.
The games in hand are more likely than not going to thwart it happening v Sheff W IMO though.
It can be done - maybe not likely but is possible - Millwall to beat Middlesbrough and then lose to Norwich - Millwall could get a maximum of 87 points. Middlesbrough lose to Millwall and then Swansea away the most they can get would be 86 points. Two draws for Middlesbrough would be even better. A long shot I know - we can live in hope.Yep, agreed about Blackburn. It'd be nice to secure it with our 10th win in 11 games for sure.
