It wouldn’t surprise me either way if in 5 years time Esse is playing in the Premier League or League 1. He’s got all the talent on the ball, but the decision making just isn’t there. It’s why Glasner booted him to us and why Sakamoto is starting ahead of him.

I’d probably look elsewhere in the summer although it might be worth the gamble if the coaching team think they can improve him.

Thats some call! How dare you make an outrageous claim of him playing within one of the top 3 leagues in England. Should add Championship to your prediction too

Chilwell is a friend of FL and it was rumoured FL sees him as being part of the coaching team. I don't get this issue of not paying people, if we sign a player for 12 million and has a salary of 25,000 per week, why if the player comes for a few million, or even free, can't we sign them with a 50,000 a week deal? Wilder has always done that at Sheff Utd and apart from this season it has worked. I really think in some cases, like Chilwell, it is worth it especially as he can coach the defence.
Fairly obvious I would say. We have a strict pay structure in place (the ceiling will increase in the prem) and we don't want to raise the expectations of the rest of the squad.

you’re so annoying

Not something you can say for every player though is it. Like I’d be surprised if KKH ends up in league 1 in 5 years.

I predict that KKH will either be in the Prem, Championship or L1 in 5 years.

I’m not saying him specifically but someone like Jacob Murphy should be the type we look at

He's got potential, but I'd be concerned about an upper mid-table French side loaning him out rather than using him this year. If he's not ready for Ligue 1, he's probably not ready for the Premier League just yet.
Are we going to sign many ready made premier league players though is my question

Based on 5 or 6 first team signings, what would we go for?

GK
LB
CB
CM (Onyeka)
RW
ST

Then probably a couple of younger development players.

If that’s all we’re getting I’d rather get a decent CM than a slight upgrade at ST TBH. Though even then I think if that’s all we get we go down with a record low point tally.

Rushworth

Denkey

Would be a good mix of experience, youth, and surprise.

I'm not joining the Esse knocking as i think he's a good talent for his age, but that's not true. £10 million is a good amount for a first year Prem side who would have to get most their signings absolutely bang on to stand even half a chance.
I may be out of touch with what constitutes vfm in the prem then. I think he’s gonna be good though.

In reality you’ve got to scour every league outside England and Spain for gems as yet uncovered. The worst value is championship stock, closely followed by Premier league. No matter how big the cash inflow, we’re not set up to lure more than 1-2 prem players. We’ll try for a Rushworth and be obliged to get Onyeka.

Living down in Suffolk , I remember listening to the local radio last season when it was obvious Ipswich were going down. Mick Mills who is their Oggy as such was critical of their. Recruitment process for not going world wide and for concentrating too much on the UK market as such. I thought they had been clever to snaffle up top Championship players so as to ensure they would get promoted the next season if they went down x their problem is that in the autumn they were too inconsistent mainly though the manager chopping and changing all the time. They should have walked this league with their squad but I for one remain very grateful for their hap hazard approach 😂

Not 104 no. But we'd probably get close to the 100 matk this season with a striker who was powerful and had a great shot conversion rate.

Defensively we're the best side in the league, with Ipswich now a conceded goal behind having played a game less. Midfield we can play around most sides in the league, that's not where our problems lie?

Up front is where the issue is and it's glaringly obvious. Part down to striker's positioning ability, part down to finishing ability. Can you imagine someone of Vipotnik's ilk with that shot Conway had against yourselves at our place? Can you imagine him yesterday with the shots presented to Strelec and/or Browne? Along with plenty of other games where our just slamming it in the net has been the one area that let's us down?

We'll probably get somewhere between 82-88 points this season. Just having a decent finisher in the tight games or games that needed putting out of reach so the late hopeful burst from our opponents doesn't affect us points wise would be worth about another 12 - 15 points over the course of the whole season.

Of course he could get injured and/or get rested at some point, we'd expect him to miss half a dozen games on average, that's football, and we'd also be wise to take him off as soon as a game was put to bed.

Big chances missed:
1. Southampton (70)
2. Ipswich (66)
3. Coventry (60)
...
13. Boro (45)

xG difference:
1. Coventry (30.9)
2. Ipswich (27.4)
3. Boro (19.3)

From a creativity standpoint you're clearly quite far behind us & Ipswich. I think you'd be in a similar position if you had Vipotnik

I'd definitely qualify his time here so far as pretty disappointing. His performances have regressed week on week since he joined.
He started with promise but looks less dangerous going forward but safer in defensive situations in every game. Unfortunately there is some sort of contractual agreement with Palace to give him game time, I think that could have been a mistake but anyway he has at least scored 2 goals in 13 appearances, I think there will be more.
