Statement signings if we go up? (11 Viewers)

If Chilwell's reported wages are even close to being accurate then there's no chance of that happening unless they were incredibly generous with the wage split.

I strongly suspect that the only reason he landed at Strasbourg was because there was no other suitors. (Both owned by BlueCo).

You maybe surprised.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we kept all of them, but also King won’t like to see players worth millions go for nothing. Will depend on what they’re asking for an extension and what interest there is I guess.

Which is nonsense really. He played at this level successfully and was signed for relatively big PL money.

Has he? He had a breakthrough season and was gone in Jan of that season. He was signed for potential because if you can teach him how to play the game he’s clearly got natural talent on the ball. But his overall ability to do the stuff that isn’t flashy tricks is way below where it needs to be. There’s a reason he’s back here and not able to get into the side.

If this is to be believed then I don’t think £60k a week would be over the top for a starting Premier League left back?

Why? Because he's made a whopping 3 appearances in his career? He's only 16 ffs
Yeah and? If you're good enough you're old enough and he is ready for a spell in the Prem, so why not us that will guarantee him game time which Arsenal won't

We'll need experience for one thing in the Prem plus nobody knows if he's gonna be good enough - not after 3 games

Despite my disapproval of his antics vs Oxford I’d really like us to sign Esse. Hes got bags of talent and I suspect wouldn’t be ridiculous money (if we get promoted).

He’s got four years left on his contract, I’d expect he’d cost over £10m an he’s not worth half that.

I'm not joining the Esse knocking as i think he's a good talent for his age, but that's not true. £10 million is a good amount for a first year Prem side who would have to get most their signings absolutely bang on to stand even half a chance.

He’s very talented but he’s nowhere near ready to be starting for a Prem team, as shown by the fact he isn’t starting for a Champ team.

I doubt we could afford him but a player in the mould of Ivan Toney who's scoring a goal a game, although in a poor league, and has the experience we need. I know he wants to come back but no one will pay him the 2 million a month he's on. We must sign someone that has the premier league experience to lead the line as goals are crucial. Good teams have a great spine as long as we get that right we could be ok, Rushworth though is the first building block.

Looking at the premier league relegation scrap. Burnley are as good as gone, Bashir Humphreys has been one of if not their player of the season. 23 year old left footed cb. Chelsea kid too.

Just trying to fit in prem experience, that we can get for decent value.

Its tough. I think we need 2 in the team.

I agree, we do need the experience. I would just look elsewhere.

Maybe Jose Sa could be an option if we don't sign Rushworth, bags of experience and a decent keeper.

Chilwell is a friend of FL and it was rumoured FL sees him as being part of the coaching team. I don't get this issue of not paying people, if we sign a player for 12 million and has a salary of 25,000 per week, why if the player comes for a few million, or even free, can't we sign them with a 50,000 a week deal? Wilder has always done that at Sheff Utd and apart from this season it has worked. I really think in some cases, like Chilwell, it is worth it especially as he can coach the defence.
