Yeah they do dislike us, as do Sheffield United and Leicester.

Worth pointing out I’m not on Twitter so generally won’t see anything the smooth brains on there say.

Also both Sheffield United and Sunderland seem to be disliked by a disproportionately large number of other fanbases.

I don’t dislike Sunderland - have some Mackem friends, they’re always very funny in regards to football though!
They dont like us because we turn up at their gaff, mob handed, out sing them, then fuck off home with the points!

It’s not the hatred that bothers me, it’s the ones who act like getting promoted is meaningless as ā€œyou’ll get hammered every week next season/come right back down anywayā€ as If there is no merit to winning the championship outright on its own, not to mention that the parachute money, tv sponsorship money, global exposure would be trajectory changing for the club. Plus the chance for us to see the best players in the world at our ground and also attract a higher calibre of players ourselves again.

Survival in the premier league isn’t a short term goal for me (let’s be honest, with the budgets and structures we’d be competing with, first season relegation is highly probable)
But becoming one of the few who has the ridiculous advantage of parachute payments would be massive for future championship seasons.

To be fair it's human nature, when leaving Wembley after our Semi final loss I was gobbing off about how Man United would get battered in the FA cup final near as many United fans as I could.

Im sure they think promotion is pointless until they get into the playoffs, then its the only thing thst matters.

I can remember everone saying Bournmouth would get battered every week and relegated after 1 season. The same was said about Forrest and Brentford and Fulham and Palace.

Just hope Frank stays and when given money doesn’t end up sinking clubs like uncle harry did lol

Anyone else who reads a lot of other club forums cant have helped notice a new hatred from some towards us. There seems to be a number of fan bases who seem to have green eyed envy and a particular hatred towards lampard.
constant comments like
its the poorest championship in years.
cant wait for us to get battered in the Prem and Lampard to get the sack
Cov are shit and no where as good as boro or Ipswich
we are only top because weve spent millions on players šŸ˜‚
Lampard is a shit manager
fat Frank
Cov are just lucky this season

there is loads more but there are certain clubs who clearly have a jealous hatred towards us namely Stoke, Shef Utd, Ipswich not to mention Leicester that was never there before except Leicester who seem obsessed with us. This seems to happened since Lampard came so is this about a hatred of Lampard and that he is doing well or is just jealousy that we as a team are top of the league. I also think that this has been reflected on the pitch with clubs out to prove a point against us because we are top its like we have a target on our backs
Shocked at some of the stuff I’ve read but balance it with other forums like Milwall who rate us highly

It’s easier to slag off a winning team than have some self reflection and admit that for the Parachutes teams it’s been a fucking shit show.

The only folks to blame for their own poor form this season are themselves, their team & management.

Although to be fair most folks I know (that admittedly have a few brain cells) are very complimentary about City and how well we are doing.

Most know that we’ve been building steadily (Ć  la Brentford etc) and have done it the right way.

I think Frank has put up with crap all throughout his career. He got shite early on as he was seen as a bit of a nepobaby. Thing is he had the skill to prove his actual worth.

The fat stuff was just weird.

Niche side note TFTM pod use Lamparding (being a bit of a Lampard) as an adjective for anyone who is a acting a bit of a nimby or grass. Stems from him loosing his rag when Bielsa sent spies to Derbys training ground prior to their playoff game against Leeds. It's harsh but that pod is pretty funny.

Haha! I'd forgotten all about that. Haven't listened to TFTM for some time

Kind of the opposite for me, I think we are relatively well liked (or at least seem so to me online and in person) and seen lots of fans of most other clubs wishing us well.

Only the odd few Champ clubs that seem to dislike us on the whole.
We should be likeable really. Been through the wringer last 10 or so years, down to league2, champ PO final on a budget, then hugely successful English former player takes us to the next level with a bit more investment. We’re still on a budget relative to our peers.

Coventry have got to be one of the luckiest clubs in the Midlands.

No-one scores more last minute winners. No-one has finished one place above the relegation zone more times than Coventry. They won the FA Cup with a goal that deflected off Gary Mabbutt's knee and looped over Ray Clemence in goal.

Even when they went through all that shit with SISU and not having a stadium they won the League Two play-offs at the first attempt from fifth, also winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, they won League One when Covid curtailed the season.

In short and in comparison to Stoke at least they seem utterly blessed and we seem utterly cursed.

Not sure if I would prefer them to go up and be humbled or lose in the play offs but I can't stand them and another late winner does nothing to help that!

Ultimately they are a good side in quite an average year. Certainly better than us yesterday and it was the expected result. We were miles off the aggression and structure of the home game against them before Xmas and everyone would have taken a point before the game.

Ahh yes - we're one of the luckiest sides in the world. While Stoke were playing in the prem with Bojan and Arnautovic up front, we played home games in Birmingham, Northampton and Burton. Got relegated twice, had point deductions, went into administration and had to watch Darius Henderson play up front.

Salty football fans make salty comments on football forums.

Weird people go looking for salty comments so they can feel aggrieved about them.

I don’t get how that contributor can clam were a shit house of a club when they had 3 shots and only one on target all game…

We do get a lot of last minute winners most of time, it’s been a goal with the run of play. It’s also not our fault their young keeper shit the bed and gifted us a goal. If he puts in row Z, they get a point from the game.

We’ve gone from ā€œYour ground is too big for youā€ to ā€œWhere were you when you were shitā€ in a few seasons. Quite incredible, really!

Yeah you got to laugh at that with the shit owners that we've had in the past, would it be any different at any other club, of course not.

The Stoke fans sang that yesterday "where were you when you were shit"

We can all see their empty seats in their stadium and that's with rich owners. šŸ¤”

It’s the kettle calling the pot black because they were a shit team like we were until Pulis got them up and kept them there for a few seasons. The year they beat us 2-1 the year they went up, an old PE teacher of mine said ā€˜one day, it’ll be you lot’ and that was nearly 20 years ago. I’ll be honest, I never believed it.

As a club, I quite like Stoke and have an old uni mate who support them. The whole ā€˜where were you when you were shit song’ can be levied at most clubs when tough times hit. Even the Ipswich fans giving it large had half empty stadiums in L1, let alone L2.

In the cup, we had nearly the same amount of fans as them so they’re some of the last people who can point the finger at us.

It’s mainly from clubs like sheff Utd, Ipswich,Southampton, Leicester and mboro, they know this season they should have been guaranteed to go up, they royally fucked it up, add to that if you’re still in this league next season you’ve got the 3 clubs with money to spend coming down plus the money brum and Wrexham will have next season there’s probably only one realistic promotion spot to go for, reckon the top 2 will run away with it, it’s not been the quality last season was, just we’ve been good enough to take advantage of it

I never get late winners being 'lucky'

Surely every minute of a game is valid as any other?
It's nonsense spouted by idiots.
They never think of how we get so much additional time added on and we score a late winner! It's called Karma

The fact of the matter is: when fans of other clubs are critical of your club, it usually means you are winning at their expense.

I'd much rather all the stick we are getting than all the sympathy when we were in the sh!t as it means we are doing well!

I am probably the exact opposite of that, I tend to, if anything, talk down our team and talk about the opposition. For example, this weekend when asked about our chances by someone, I said we're at home and in-form so think we should win, but also mentioned Stoke City having the best defence in the league and it will be a tough game regardless.

However, with a name of a group called "x banter page", I do not expect it to be a bastion of footballing nuance.

They hate us coz they ain't us.

In all seriousness, we got a lot of love/sympathy as the plucky underdogs & the shit we've been through, but once you're at the top you're there to be shot at & that's where the envy kicks in.

It's a lot easier to stomach when it's a parachute team steamrolling the league, simply by outspending everyone else. But when it's someone like us, from where we've been, homeless, poor crowds etc. to now dominating, other clubs will understandably ask "If they can do it, why can't we?"

Then of course, Lampard;
Footy fans are incredibly tribal, they'll remember him playing/scoring against them etc. but more than that, it's a societal issue imo. So many revel in a successful person failing. You see it so many times, the elite players getting booed everywhere they play, simply for being elite.

We love to hate a talented player in this country, particularly if they have a personality of their own. Look at the shit Jude Bellingham gets.
