I know I'm being touchy but it makes me want to puke every time someone refers to Sakamoto as 'Saka' 🤮

It's Tatsu or Tats he's said it himself. It's way better sounding too. Calling him Saka is just lazy.

Not sure that if he did a good little bit of interplay in a game, that I would be too comfortable shouting out "nice Tats" to be honest.

I agree. I got cross at him ducking out of some tackles and shouted ‘Chicken Tatsu’, what I got hurled back at me was some suspicious looking sauce and breaded poultry. Learned my lesson.

Whilst it's great to have attracted Esse to the club for the second half of this season when Tats doesn't start generally I think that's it's very noticeable. The guy never gives any less than 100% and he's always liable to produce that little bit of magic. Granted that he has his limitations but he's a proper team player. His relentless running and covering back is real asset as is his understanding with MVE. A genuine guy and Lampard rightly praises him to the skies.
Unfortunately I don't think that he's most probably cut out for the PL but he's a top player in The Championship. All round great bloke

I think tats will be a squad player for us next season still

I doubt he starts

No lazier than EMC or BTA or anything else that contracts any players' name.

His friends and colleagues call him Tatsu (with the 'u' very lightly voiced, if at all, as far as I can tell), but he's not a friend or anyone I know, he's one of our players, so presumably we can use whatever nickname we like.

He’s a better player for us right now than Esse.

Esse has the talent to go further, and is technically very gifted, but the all round game of Sakamoto is a massive asset.

Still annoys me when he’s criticised for his lack of goals/assists. His contribution cannot be measured in stats alone.

Deserves to be with us in the Prem next year and I think he’ll surprise a few.

I'd say Sakamoto is more than good enough technically to play in the PL, but his size may let him down. He should definitely be a good squad player when we're up there.
