I don't claim to be an expert but I could reverse that question and say why hasn't he signed. We got the other two players in quickly on loan.
Because we have only just sent Andrews out on loan is part of the reason! DK will only commit when things are certain

We are in talks for a permanent move immediately as well as a loan until the end of the season and then a permanent signing. It was never going to be done in a day. Both his club and the player have to be happy with any deal.
One person's "in talks" is another's "we made a vague approach 6 months ago and it's been dead since" and everything in between.

I've been looking online at all things Valencia related here in Spain and they've just signed a midfielder, Guido Rodriguez and a central defender, Unai Nuñez. Haven't seen any mention of Onyeka..

Rodriguez is a defensive midfielder so he plays in the same role.

It’s a rumour that started a couple of weeks ago; I doubt there’s anything in it.

Valencia are a bit of a shambles at the moment if I am not mistaken? They have been in a relegation battle the last few seasons

Is it still the old Baggies manager?

Is his guy the messiah or something? I know we want a CM but why we pinning all our hopes on this guy? 🤣 there’s 100s of CMs out there
I do love that the one Brentford fan who posts on here was immediately like “he has no passing ability, he has an awful first touch, he won’t offer anything alongside Grimes, we got this one wrong” and everyone on here immediately responded with “sounds amazing”

(I’m not pre-judging him btw)

Hope to give you an insight on Frank Onyeka.
He gives 100% and will cover every blade of grass, and is particularly useful at playing a gritty game.
However, on the ball he is genuinely woeful, he has a first touch of a trampoline and absolutely no passing ability. Brentford very rarely get them wrong but we got this one quite wrong. With Grimes already in the midfield, Onyeka wont offer much else.
I try to watch your games on the telly but it is fairly hard now-a-days with our away games and trains being fucked afterwards. however what I have seen is you probably needed a 3 players to secure promotion: a winger (Esse seems to be the solution), a left back (Brau may come good later in his career), and a midfielder alongside Grimes., and perhaps even a striker (although wright may turn consistent and score enough towards the end of the term.) You need someone to drive the ball and have the ability to breach defence with quick passes. Onyeka is not that player, especially not for 8m.

good luck cov, on promotion.

This is what i've found looking on their forum:

"I think Frank is a very underrated player who bizarrely suited the style of play we played while he wasn't here...

The role Norgaard played back end of last season seemed tailor-made for him. And I think he'd be a very good pickup for a team trying to do just that. BUT, as good as I think he is, I just don't think he really suits what we're trying to do with our midfield.

We paid, what, £8.5m for him...I reckon we could recoup that, but he needs to build on a successful AFCON with a good second half of the season somewhere. So maybe a loan to Coventry would be a good bet. He'd help them get promoted and then either they'd make it permanent or we'd sell elsewhere for somewhere between £8-10m. Valencia is a graveyard, I would avoid that like the plague."

He thinks we need someone to drive the ball up the pitch, others think we need ball winners who can cover lots of ground. In that same post that’s how he’s described.

So it really comes down to what you think we actually need.

"Always thought that he put in a good shift, whenever he came on.

Certainly a strong on-field presence, whenever we needed to toughen up a match.

Always felt a bit nervous when he put in some ’hearty’ challenges, which often tended to be just close to our penalty box!

However, wish him well and hope that he gets a club that will give him a lot of match time.
Not sure if Coventry are still interested, but if he went there, we’d most likely see him back here next season.

If that were true, would have no problem in giving him some applause and thanks.

There’s a right way and a wrong way to leave a club, and FTT is going along the right way."

Another good post about him

Running around the Brentford forums now 😅

It’s ok if one Brentford fan doesn’t think he’s very good!
Was just interested to see what they posted about him!

Surely a journalist would know its better to use more than one source of information?!

The longer its going the more I'm wondering if another club has made an approach, would he be able to play tomorrow if he signed?
