As he is only 19, I am assuming this doesnt help with freeing up a squad place

Signing and registering are separate processes? we can sign him tonight and then register him/de-register another tomorrow.

Doubt it happens but it’s not a blocker to us signing him.

Yeah absolute fluke they’ve kept us top for 20 consecutive games. Frank needs to get rid ASAP.
I dont think it’s our defensive record that’s kept us top, we’ve conceded 3 less than Oxford in 23rd, anyway hopefully won’t matter when we start twatting teams again, starting Saturday

Only 4 teams have conceded less, so I think they play their part

Convinced we’ve not seen half of what grimes can actually do, if Lampard trusted the defence grimes plays further up, hopefully the new lad will free him up a bit,

It requires us to have much more energy in the side and to not give the ball away quite so easily high up the pitch.
We’ve def dropped off the last month, pressing is nowhere near where it was, need Asante back at it he was brilliant at starting the press from the front, everyone else just followed, you see one doing it they all do it,

Agree, and we really do give the ball away in very unfortunate parts of the pitch.
Been very unlike us the last month, silly mistakes even grimes giving the ball away, Simon Jordan on talk sport got it bang on, “ they’ve won their last 2 out of 3 haven’t they, Ipswich had a bad run at the start, so did mboro wer’e having a little one , convinced we come out of if, always liked him , tells it as it is

I’m not saying you are, but I think there’s a fair bit of people trying to convince themselves it will all be fine, but not really succeeding.

As a team we look nervy, unconvincing. Boro look the total opposite as do Ipswich at home. We have a team that really lacks leadership and any experience of being promoted from this division. Boro have a bit of it and Ipswich have a lot.

My gut feeling honestly is we don’t get this done and end up 3rd or 4th.

How encouraging. I'm very pleased you don't work on one of my teams. A team that lacks leadership and experience? Really? I blame that youngster Grimes who is new to captaincy. o_O

I think we will be fine as worried about our defence as I am I think we still do it, we’re brilliant at home even games we’ve struggled in we get it done, and away it’s not like we’re losing games 2 or 3 nil, it’s by 1 goal and it’s mostly because of goals we’ve given away, look how hard we have to work to score our goals, we don’t get given any, but then we said the start of this little wobble get to January still in with a shout and get a few new bodies in and we’ll have a great chance, well we have and we are, 9 points from the next 3, it’s the cov way 😉

And also I’m not sure, and I might be wrong, how much the amount of encouraging (or lack thereof) you do on this forum has on the performance of the team.

Unless there’s something you’re not telling us…

But our defensive record isn't the sole responsibility of our defenders

In recent weeks we've often allowed the opposition a counter attack with only 3-4 players (CBs, Grimes and maybe a fullback) behind the ball defending.

The 2 goals Monday, kitching gave the ball away and Thomas just switched off, that’s basic defending, cost us at least a point, 2nd goal v Birmingham, Thomas switches off again, there’s plenty more, you’re allowed to make mistakes but when you keep making the same ones, and it’s not just him, we need to sort it

It’s a bit silly in any case. I’m saying what I think will happen based on what I’ve seen and it’s my gut feeling. We don’t look like a team that believes it can get over the line, we do look really nervy.

Boro will go top at the CBS if not sooner, bookmark the post.

Let’s face it. Apart from Milan, most oppo forwards are faster than our defenders. That being the case move the defending line 25 metres back so they can move forward onto the ball instead of chasing it.
Play to their strong points and this will give space to our midfield to expand the game.
