To an extent. Wilson? Maddison? Gyokeres? Hamer? But that’s my point really. Retention takes as much cash as acquisition.Has that happened since the robins revival?

History shows it’s all about how players perform in the last 12 matches …. Everyone forgets the first half and gets focused on that period.
If Wright scored 15 goals in the remainder of the season he would win player of the season I have no doubt ….
I’ve been filling in the wallchart from the preseason programme.
Below are the number of times each player has won man of the match.
Clearly shows the value of Rushworth recently and that EMC our most consistent outfield player
(Raphael won for Luton in the cup which seems a very long time ago)
Torp, MVE and Rudoni only one each for marquee players and Grimes not at all which seems mad.
Emc - 4
Wright -2
Rudoni-1
Torp-1
Rushworth- 5
Da silva - 2
MVE -1
BTA- 2
Simms-3
Saka - 1
Thomas - 1
Kitch - 3
Lati - 1
Rapha - 1

Simms had scored 10 in 12. Wright none in 15.I didn't say Yang should start, did I?Fucking hell mate..emc has been class last 2 games that we won
Are you just one of these people who always thinks the manager has got it wrong? First not wanting wright to start and now this
After 2 back to back wins!
Your saying you can't believe he hasn't come on as a sub in last 2 gamesSimms had scored 10 in 12. I didn't say Yang should start, did I?
Surprised you aren’t still sucking off the Sunderland forum astute you bellendSome people never learn.
It isn't how much you spend but what you do with your budget. We kept all of our best players who were good enough and added to them. Pre season on here was mental. Teams like Norwich and Southampton were expected to be challenging at the top and many had us mid table.
This window we've strengthened. The other sides already had loans. We only had 1. Esse is a great loan signing and I would love to keep him next season if we get promoted. Again we haven't sold anyone so far we want to keep and would have to replace. This is much better than having replacements that would have to learn the way we play and hope for the best. Esse is a class player that just slotted in. Mini is like a normal signing and will take time. I would be very happy with another loan to improve our squad.
So what’s your point? I’m saying backing managers can include retaining your best players as well as buying them. I don’t care if it’s Don Mackay, Russell Slade, Robins or Lampard. Lampard is the current manager and he is being backed.
I think the fact we blew the budget in two reserve players who have hardly played gives the opposite impression tbh. Yes money has been spent but it’s not much compared to what came in and what we brought with it has been a bit of a waste if we’re honest.
In terms of first team players we’ve basically sold Sheaf for £6m a bought Grimes for £3.5m since he arrived. The fact he’s got us where he is reflects well on him not the ownership IMO.
Louza didn’t even travel so he’s definitely not starting.Louza and Hamer starting for their clubs today
Because our starting XI is already an automatic promotion chasing champ side - you'll need to spend likely £7-10m (depending on position) to get any sort of real upgrade. What we did in the summer and so far in Jan is consolidate the squad and improve the quality of the depth. It appears that we're about to make one of those £7-10m signings to strengthen in central midfield. If that happens, for me the squad is basically complete.I think the fact we blew the budget in two reserve players who have hardly played gives the opposite impression tbh. That is bollox.Your saying you can't believe he hasn't come on as a sub in last 2 games
Your always questioning the managers decisions.
NopeObvious isnt it?
Did you not say it's a "no brainer" that Simms starts ahead of wright? That is bollox.
Not denying anything. On form Simms should have started ahead of Wright. In fact our run was so poor before that, partly because Wright was fluffing chances. Do I think Yang should have played a part in the last 2 games, yes. You then claim " you are continually criticising the manager".. is just bolloxDid you not say it's a "no brainer" that Simms starts ahead of wright?
Did you not say you "can't believe" that Yang hasn't been on the pitch last 2 games?
That's clearly saying you disagree with the managers decisions
You should just be honest that you personally would do things differently to lampard rather than deny
Didn't say criticise to be fair. Said questioningNot denying anything. On form Simms should have started ahead of Wright. People seem to consistently underrate the actual quality of our current side and think whoever our rivals sign are incredible. Mehmeti doesn't start for us, Sarmiento wouldn't either. Esse is a better player than both.
Simms has been brilliant for a long time..Wright was good, not brilliant. So Mason Clarke is going to play every game?Wright was brilliant against Millwall
Who should Yang have replaced? The person who plays in his best position was brilliant for 90 minutes in both games
100% agree with this.Because our starting XI is already an automatic promotion chasing champ side - you'll need to spend likely £7-10m (depending on position) to get any sort of real upgrade. He can but only for about 60 minutes before he's cooked, he covered a lot of ground in that playoff season.100% agreed. If we want to play him AM or out wide then I see a fit. If work rate is a problem atm at Sheff U, then he’s just not going to be in that role that Torp is currently in.
We played counter attacking football when Hamer was here and he’s absolutely got the attributes for that passing wise. Can he defend large areas of space in the middle of the park? I’m just not convinced.
I love it when you post nonsense like this because within a few days it’s normally proved to be moronic
Obvious to the rest of us.Nope
I don’t get it either. I like him a lot and would have him back tomorrow.Don’t really get the vitriol to o hare
he was a really good player for this club
Kasey Palmer wasn’t and gets cheered when he takes a corner, yes he had moments but not consistently enough
Can't believe you can watch us when our best 11 are playing and think the squad isn't good enough and we're punching above our weight. I think it's this general over-rating of the rest of the chasing pack that cause people to have crazy outbursts about us signing players. Ebou Adams, Tanganga, Kyogo etc. all names I've seen people bang on about on here yet none get anywhere near our starting 11s.I don’t think they are. I think Lampard has done an excellent job of punching above the weight of his squad.

Maddison left before Robins. The others were sold when we wanted to rebuild the entire squad.
Must have been a predicted line up I looked atLouza didn’t even travel so he’s definitely not starting.
TONY MOWBRAY WAS MANAGER IN 2016/17
Is that easier or should I get the crayons?
I'm going off Saddlebrains and the rumours around OnyekaIs this true about the 7-10M pound signing?
