Villa Rivalry (2 Viewers)

The Villa rivalry is non existent these days, but it was very much a thing in the early 90s especially. If we play them next season, it will all very much be pantomime stuff, I imagine.

I worked in Leamington for 15 years.
Cov was the highest supported Club zVilla were second.
We were in the Prem back then and 90% of them hated us. Saying that it was mostly us and them as a constent back then with WBA and Wolves flirting now and then.

I mean - earlier on in the season, Birmingham Mail had a whole article on how they don’t give a shit about us, whilst quoting multiple fans discussing how they were there when they relegated us, and that they don’t care….

All whilst they have a thread on their forums about us and that they don’t give a shit about us..

It’s 100% more from us - but it’s a Dormant rivalry from the 90s

My best mate at work is a season ticket holder at the villa and he reckons there cheering us on to go up, so we can play each other again just like the good old days.
My old man hates villa, but I'm not that bothered but think if we do go up it might change in banter terms.
Fuck Leicester and fuck the Brummies.
You'll see quite a few comments from Villa fans online saying similar. They're bored of Wolves being their derby in the absence of blues. In lieu of them they'd like us for a change.

Let's be honest the 'beef' with Lesta is one of convenience for both clubs given that neither has anything closer to a local rival. Derby and Forest care more about each other, Birmingham and Villa likewise. Forest and Villa in turn are clearly bigger clubs and the latter have been the biggest in the Midlands for ages.

They were smashing milk bottles in front of cars along the main road to the ground after the game. It was horrific. First time I drove away after passing my test
Remember it, we hid in a doorway, they kicked the windows of a convenience store in and helped themselves to the milk bottles as weapons. 1987 just before the cup final was mayhem too, they smashed my mates dad's windscreen on Narborough Rd, he literally had to drive straight through them to get away. He vowed never to go there again

Anyone remember Filbert Street, absolute shit hole, same level as Kenilworth Road.

Leicester are absolute tinpot, horrible club and totally irrelevant.

They are historically a vaguely similar sized club to CCFC. And they have achieved an awful lot in the last decade that we'll never do..... so what does that make us.

You may well dislike them (lord knows i do too) but most of what you're saying is total bollocks (as per)

Came up against Leicester and Villa in the 80’s and 90’s , grew up in Leics so the biggest rivals are them but believe you me if you went over to Villa park back in the day and you saw the fun and games around Witton bridge then you’d have remembered Villa did very much care about us .

No...its always Leicester. ask anyone who was at it in the mid eighties. If you lot hadn't been so shite we could have carried it on but you disappeared and we were left with Villa to try and irritate. They are European Champions FFS....what we needed was and is an average outfit who are a similar size to us that we can take the piss out of....and here you are. Thank you
If you go back to around 68 wolves was a major one.

Not if 'size' correlates with 'achievement'.

56 seasons v 34 in the top flight
1 top flight title v 6th highest place finish
1 FAC each
3 LC v 2 semi-finals
8 2nd tier titles v 1

I mean, its not vaguely close at all.

Still, it will be lovely to be potentially 2 leagues above them next year.

You're right of course....

I was more referring to crowds, size/make-up of city. I'd imagine most neutral fans (prior to the last decade) would have grouped Leicester and us around the same level.

It does amaze me when City fans throw the word "tinpot" around at other clubs after where we've been recently.

Leicesters story may have run its course but let’s not kid ourselves it was a tale for the ages while it lasted and we may be in the ascendancy at the moment and long may it continue, but I would settle for a fraction of what they achieved.

It was a fairytale story of a billionaire owner and his Total disregard for financial governance!

I was going to Filbert Street in the 80’s - never saw them different to Forest to be honest

Cheated their way to a title (God knows how).

Villa who i dislike just as much, at least are a proper football club with history

Frankly it's impossible to mention the two in the same sentence.
Don’t let your weird hatred of Leicester cloud your perspective on us 😂😂😂😂

My word if you look at history and calling us tinpot, what does that make Coventry then or are you demonstrating you West End Aggro?😂😂

You’re really not the brightest but you’ve given me a laugh ⚽️🦊

Yeah course it was 😂😂😂

So what about the other six Secons Division Title wins, Three League Cup wins and an FA Charity Shield before King Power came along 😂😂😂😂

That's not what the post I replied to was referring to though.
Honestly, those Leicestershire schools need the armed wing of OFSTED to go in and sort them out.

It wouldn't do to upset him.... he's a dangerous individual.

He stood in the West End
