Expect a very busy week ahead. Lots to be positive about and a couple moving on. Looking good for the 2nd half of the season.
We already have a small squad and you say a couple moving on , so we would have to sign about 5 players to strengthen the squad, and I can’t see that happening.

Has anyone stopped for a minute to consider that Haji Wright, from Los Angeles, California, might just be a Burnley fan?

Footballers can support teams as well!

Amazed to learn Burnley have an official account for their football team though.
And he’s suddenly begun supporting them at 27 after being at a rival club for 3 seasons 😂 he’s unfollowed that fan account anyways it was just a misclick.

What annoys me is we always buy at the end of a window (not just us all clubs). Can never understand why there is not the same urgency at the start and the player is therefore with you for more games

The problem….. if it is a problem, is that we just need 3 or 4 quality signings , to help us get promoted. This is trying to prise them away from their parent club for a loan , or loan to buy, or a straight purchase deal .
Doug seems to have a wage structure in place , that might yet cause us the bigger problem, to get any/ all of Franks requirements ?

Because it’s a sellers market January. You know you can wait and drive price up / clubs get desperate and offer silly money.

also selling clubs need to line up replacements.

it’s an awful window for a steady club looking to add some star dust, like us.

We will most probably be looking at 5 or 6 players and expecting about 2 to join. If we get more targets we could let others go.

This is the calm before the storm. Many clubs are waiting to confirm signings before selling. I think it will be a week or so before much happens. But if we sign players then near the end of the window our main target becomes available and the other interested clubs have bought elsewhere?

Whilst we all want signings asap, partly to reassure us and partly for them to train and get to know how we play, in reality we have an FA Cup match next week so we are really targeting the leicester fixture to get 1 or 2 in by, and then 1 or 2 more by the end of the window.

It's when they become available at the right price. You want them in early so they can settle in ASAP.

Players hold out, and hope for more interest and options from other clubs, it also helps them demand more wages when a club is desperate and the deadline is approaching

The ambition and work is no less at the start than the end of the window but it’s a competitive negotiation and every party is seeking to optimise their position. This takes time.

Feel like we're being linked to every winger who's available on loan and has Championship as likely destination.
This - and also have no doubt we have probably enquired about a lot of wingers too. Doesn’t mean there all coming through the door as some people seem to think 😅

This is the reality of chasing after good players. He is being offered almost double to go to this other club. He would be stupid not to at least take time to consider it.
It's making me cringe how many people are turning on him as if he is some evil guy all of a sudden. Even before your post they decided he's not good enough . Weird
