You mean, football fans having an opinion on a forum designed exactly for that reason?

Whatever next? Games gone!

I’m all for opinion, but people state things as fact.

Whats the situation on new contracts, Wright, Rudoni, MVE. Have they signed extensions?
Keeping the core team (that are good enough) just as critical as new signings.

I know I'm going to get verbally slaughtered for this and it's not deliberate provocation but I think that Luke O'Nien on loan for the rest of the season wouldn't be as ridiculous as it sounds. Even if he were only to be used from the bench, he has the experience and tenacity to help see games out when they're finely balanced.
Can also play anywhere in the midfield or at the back

Go directly to the slaughterhouse, you need to be exterminated.

Selling our most valuable assets wouldn't be something Doug would do. Its not about the player and fee, its about the time restriction and cost of the replacement.

For us in our situation its a time to strengthen, not to be rigid on a club model. This is the best chance i think we are going to get and in Doug's 5 year plan he set himself.
The older members on here will remember the team that was right up there in the top division near Christmas. We sold Thompson, our centre forward to West Brom and our form plummeted. Not the only reason, that was a very young side, but history says keep your best players.

Absolutely agree. Is he fit? Injured at the end of last season.

Remember the rumour from a usually not unreliable source that we were signing a winger from a Championship club. Could someone who knows these things, list the options?

Normally yes, but it depends who you replace them with. The players we have now came from selling the best two players we have had for many years.

If Wright was sold for a good amount maybe a Prem loan with some sort of agreement to buy? It isn't going to be easy to bring anyone in of the quality we need as it is. This isn't Football Manager. Some people seem to think it will be easy to bring in a few quality players mid season.

Decent point you are making here.

Yes older member, Gutted to lose 'Thommo' and the huge consequences that followed. Heard him talk at a forum three years ago and confirmed to me the talent he was, a top guy. Some will say it lead to winning FA cup. We we had a lot of young and quality talent that we lost based on that financial driven decision.

There’s not much else criteria outside of a winger that plays for a championship club so could be anyone
Get that but must be some who are good enough who we could afford and some you could rule out due to cost and availability. Unfortunately, don't follow all teams like I did when younger.
The only ones I know are Sorba Thomas (who I'm pretty sure Stoke would not sell) and Murphy at Portsmouth who
is 30 which I think is a non goer), even if they would sell him.
Parachute teams might sell players who are surplus to requirements but will want big fees.
That leaves players near the end of their contracts who can go for free in the Summer and clubs in financial difficulty.
Oh and our feeder club, Swansea.

Wasn't Mehmeti rumoured?

He played the other week, came on as sub and was sent off for a late tackle within minutes. Looked well off the pace from what I saw but I think it was his first appearance after injury so not too much of a surprise especially as he tends not to hold back.

Giant Upheaval manager moved on I think as Dave Sexton came after the WHU semifinal LC?
