The issue with these bring everyone back systems is you pack the box and it’s usually zonal marking. So you’re asking each player to carry out a niche tactical instruction in a crowded box with players jostling around, making runs etc.You might be right on that although there must be some data somewhere. Although i don't agree on centre forwards no being asked, they are usually pretty tall and should be good at heading. It's the absolute short arses you'd want to leave up if anything, traditionally the pacy wingers.
You see loads of teams fucking up at this, not just us. Charlton crammed their own 6 yard box and Simms scored a goal there anyway. Players like him being told to man mark the opposition’s tallest player in a less crowded box I can see the reasoning behind. Asking him to ‘control’ section 5 subsection 3 of the penalty area is a waste of resources and if anything counterproductive.
