Championship Goals Record (1 Viewer)

A little later than promised, but on to the round of 24. See out December. Get to Xmas and see how we're looking.

As i mentioned before, I started as a goals thread as we were/are scoring for fun so thought id compare goals records. However, i think we're now (possibly) in the realms of comparing points record teams too. Obviously Fulham in 2021/22 finished on 106 points (even after losing to us twice that season) and im adding Readings 2005/08 108 point record season.

Anyway, on the the stats:

Bolton: 43pts, 48:34. 2nd

Fulham: 48pts, 57:21. 1st

Man City: 45pts, 55:34. 2nd

Leeds: 51pts, 44:15. 1st

Burnley: 48pts, 30:9. 3rd

Reading: 59pts, 48:12. 1st.

So a best points of 59pts meaning we would need 16 points from a possible 18. 5 wins and 1 draw. Not so likely I'd have to say.
An average points total of 58.8. So the same for average points too!

Adding Reading in really makes that difference.

If we take Reading out, we have a highest points tally of 51 from last seasons Leeds. That would be 8 points from a possible 18. 2wins, 2 draws, 2 losses. Or 3 wins and 3 losses would return us a better haul of 9pts.
The average is also then 47. Meaning we'd only need 1 win and 1 draw to remain in touch with the pack.

In terms of goals scored, Man City are the highest scorers with 55.
So another 5 goals to keep up, 6 to better them. 1 goal per game.

In terms of goals, I dont have much worries. Id be surprisednif we couldnt score 6+ in 6 games. Also average points i think we'll be fine. But to keep pace with Reading and pick up 16 points, especially with the teams we've got ahead of us this month, might be a stretch. However, if we're closer to Reading than we are Man City's or Burnleys points by the end of this round, then they might aswell start etching our name on that trophy and getting the sky blue ribbon tied to the handles.

not sure how you are working an average of 58.8 for points with only Reading 0.2 above that and all the others well below - maybe 49 (you divided by 5 instead of 6)

Reading got 106 points. That’s the record. Fulham got 90 points in 21/22.

I think calling Man City “City” if you are a fan of them is entirely correct - it’s always been City or United up there.

Calling them the Sky Blues can fuck right off though. They ain’t having that.

They’re the Citizens they made their choice and they can live with it.

My mates a Man City fan and he refers to them as City or the Sky Blues because he knows it annoys the fuck out of me. I'm triggered just thinking about it.

I can understand calling them city.

But why would he call them the sky blues when that isn’t their nickname? He’s just being disrespectful to his own team, not us
