Getting up for day 1. Will probably go back to bed in a couple of hours when the collapse happens or I can’t stand the TNT coverage any more, whichever comes first

Is Harry Brook just not very bright?

Just got one mode hasn’t he. Such a talent as well but needs to play the situation better. Having said that it will be interesting to see how tricky it is under lights which would justify being a bit more aggressive (not reckless though !) earlier on. Got to try to just see Starc off sometimes though

Big partnership now

Went back to bed at lunch, this is still better than the 150 all out I was half expecting to wake up to

Very glad that Coventry City fan Josh Inglis has helped save English cricket by finally ridding us of Ben Stokes who surely cannot stay on as captain after the forthcoming 5-0 thrashing

Or maybe it will all be over by the weekend :ROFLMAO:

Away from the test the county game seems to be heading for some big issues. Middlesex want to cease to be a members club as a first step to moving away from Lords and there's a weird rumour that The Blaze (Notts white ball side) want the county side out of Trent Bridge.

Oh, and Oval Invincibles are now Mumbai Indians London. And its been leaked that as part of the selling off of the Hundred sides they now have priority over the ECB regarding centrally contracted players.

Hard not to see The Hundred being rebranded as a T20 competition in the near future, and following the IPL roadmap which means more games and the competition running for longer. That would presumably spend the end for the Blast and the One Day Cup has already been destroyed. That would leave non-test grounds with only the county championship being played outside of the summer months.

Looks like the Big Bash League is going to go down the 'private equity' route as well which in reality means being taken over by IPL franchises. At that point its hard to see them not offering year long contracts and having complete control over international players.

You'd have the IPL from mid March to the end of May or start of June, then the rebranded Hundred in August, potentially expanding to start in July, Big Bash runs December and January. Add in an annual white ball world cup or champions trophy and you're already running out of gaps before you add in the 'second tier' tournaments that have IPL ownership like SA20 (January & February) and CPL (September).

Said it last week ECB sold their souls to keep the Hundred. Basically handed control of English cricket to overseas business people. BCCI already largely controls international cricket through finances now people affiliated with it controls the rest.

They were saying earlier that the average 1st innings total for day/nights in Brisbane is 295 so we’re not too far off atm
