They're in a similar place to where we were with O'Hare, clearly not going to renew so do you cash in on him in January or use him to get into the top 6. Either way if we are seriously interested he'll cause a massive fuss at Bristol if they don't let him go.
Too important for Bristol to let go. They’re 4 points off automatics so they have a good opportunity to have another stab at the playoffs.

If they sold him, it’s a message that they do not believe they’ll go up. As you say, it is reminiscent of our situation with COH and perhaps had we not had the FA Cup run, we may have mounted a better playoff charge.

If I were in their shoes I'd tell him he's staying put unless there's a silly offer. Based on how Bristol's chairman handles their transfer business I expect that's what he'll do.

Mehmeti is the only one that makes any sense, might take a couple of mil rather than lose him on a free in the summer.
Would you have sold COH to Southampton/Leicester back in 23/24?

My own opinion was no because the playoffs were in reach. If they’d sell him and the club wants him, I’m all for it. He’s a good championship player!

Possibly not but it’s the only championship winger I can think of that a) is good enough to get into our team and b) is possibly available.

Is there even a legit bit of info that we're even after this bloke or any other Championship winger or is it someone just speculating & guessing as per usual on here?

Everything I have read on here seems to have the assumption we have a magic money tree. The reason Hamer, O'Hare and McCallum are at a parachute club is because we could not afford their wage demands and signing on fees. Two were free transfers.
Perhaps we do have £10 million to spend according to Hull, but we still have a very tight wage limit and Doug will not break it, as it would upset our existing players. That is why I think we will sign players from lower wage clubs in the UK, take subsidised loans or buy from abroad.

Yeah but if we offer a fat promotion clause now players will assume it’s likely to happen. Not like if we were 11th.

The legit info is we’re in for a championship winger. Everything else is speculation.

I cba to argue about Hamer anymore. I liked him when he was here but he's gone. He moved to a set of wankers, he's in the pomp of his career and he's at the bottom of the Championship, his career highlight was playing in one of the worst Prem sides ever and he seemingly is of little interest to teams higher up the ladder.
I'd rather concentrate on our players, I think there's a handful with better careers ahead than old Gus. Rudi and MvE for sure and I think a couple of others might surprise, Torp being one.
100% agree,
Plus he will be 29 at the end of the season, so there's no chance of any further profit on him, and hes not exactly known for looking after himself off the field. He struggles now to last 90 minutes of championship football as it is.

Yeh as much as I said I'd still like him around I think we'll look at smarter signings honestly. Can see Gus heading back to The Netherlands come the summer, it's clear the Prem interest isn't really there.
Season 25/26 Torp burying screamers in the Prem, Gus waddling around Eredevisie. I've seen the future.

There has to be an ITK balance between Jimmy, Saddle and GIMOC somewhere. Jimmy just sticks the tip in and walks away, leaves you wanting much more. Saddle just rammed it in with no foreplay at all which some people didn't like. Then there's GIMOC who bent you over, missed the hole and snapped his dick in half.
I think I need Jimmy to evolve honestly.

The obvious prospect of the Prem will incentivize a player, once we make our interest known to them, to force the deal through. It looks like Grimes was an instance of that sort of thing.

The Burnley lesson is interesting - they were looking like candidates for the play offs, but eventually cruised to the automatics admittedly helped by Sheffield Utd stumbling. The logic would appear to be we need to get at least a couple of Prem ready players in.

So the plan is: The Burnley model for January, the Sunderland model for the Summer

In fancy Cantwell too, he's more mature now. I thought Price for WBA looked handy on Saturday, involved in both their goals, but that might have been a one off.

could there be a link between this rumour for us and the article about Palmer being shipped out by Hull
Think you've nailed it mate. Familiar with the club so will settle in quickly and Lampard is the one to unlock all that untapped potential. The winger reference is probably just smoke and mirrors to keep the competition in the dark.

I'm intrigued about what caliber of player we look to bring in.

The assumption is that at least two of a currently very successful team will become back ups rather than first team regulars, which is a tad unusual in the club's history. So it's not a Woolfie type of purchase - strengthen the squad; instead it's a Prem-ready type.

I'd leave centre-half and attacking midfield until the summer, but look at left back and left wing.

Surely the days of Rafa, Norman, Brau type purchases are over

Personally think that is utter bollocks! Top teams have strong squads, we currently have a very thin squad on a bit of a knife edge if key players get injured. We would be screwed if Dasilva or Grimes went out long-term.

Burnley added 6 to their squad in Jan 25. It's just want is required to kick on.

Most people think we need a winger to cover/rotate Tats. We can certainly get better LB cover/competition. I honestly think it's mental we haven't got a plan B if Grimes gets crocked. Then we were obviously looking at Bamford so I don't think 4 is unrealistic.

Well it isn't utter bollocks is it. How many of those players genuinely made a massive contribution to Burnley's promotion push? I remember Bournemouth did the same several years ago and again, most of the signings made didn't really work particularly.

You're frankly a complete imbecile if you think you need to flood a successful, settled and established squad with a load of signings unless it's completely necessary - i.e. injuries etc.

Adding to the squad with 2-3 quality players would more than suffice.

Apparently Dennis Cirkin is out of contract in the summer, move bidwell on and bring him in? Top LB in this league.

We need cover on the wings but a player of his ability out of contract in half a season worth it

Hopefully we get 2 quality signings , one midfielder and one wide/attacking player. To date KKH hasn't been used as LB cover so if that's how the coaching staff see it a LB to compete with JDS would be a good addition
