Cheers Shmmeee but that makes absolutely no sense to me either

Because he hasn’t played 90 mins of football yet because he’s been a sub.

Reflecting what others have said his all round performances are much improved and he's actually becoming a very important player for us.

Realistically Wright will be leading the line for the most part this season but when we come up against a more physical style of opposition Simms definitely offers something different whether he starts or comes off the bench.

Having that physical threat to hold up play and unlock defences by bringing others into play, especially when goals are coming from everywhere on the pitch, is pure gold dust.

Must be so hard for opposition coaches and players to manage.

All round game was simply fantastic tonight.

The second assist was as good hold up play you will see in this league.
Can't fault his effort. And great assist for the second goal, he managed to hold the ball up well and was a handful all night.

However, he's still a step down from Wright. And his close control isnt good enough.
Decent option from the bench.

I mean, whoever is the Wright replacement is going to be a step down. As long as they apply themselves correctly, as Simms did, then I think that’s the point. Also, the close control thing… held the ball up really well all night. Wright literally had a ball bounce off his foot 10 yards on Saturday!

Simms control last night was as good as I can remember from him

Simms had a fantastic opportunity to score last night when Sakamoto put one on a plate for him. I think it went out for a throw in.
These are the chances he should be putting away. Wright did similar late on against Oxford, but if a chance falls for anyone. You would sooner it be Wright or BTA than Simms.

Your determination to thump yourself in the face over Ellis Simms, even after he’s had a good game, is becoming quite sad.

The way he won a corner first half he simply wasn’t doing before. Used his pace and strength to outmuscle the defender and knock the ball off him.

That’s him doing what people have wanted all along…using his attributes
Simms, BTA and Haji were all out/playing with injuries at points last season.

Simms’ best goal last season was v Swansea where he bullied a defender, and finishes the move.

He should’ve scored last night and was denied by; BTA who nicked his goal, a fantastic save from their keeper and a miss in the second half. His work for BTA’s 2nd (and the winner) was fantastic.

A genuine MOTM contender imo.

His header for the first goal was going wide. Great work by him though, he caused their centre backs so many problems all night with his aggression. So glad to see him adding that to his game, at last.

2 assists and really the assist for Torp v blues, albeit doesnt go down as an assist - so on fire at the minute - and the effort is amazing -only his finishing last night where he could have bagged a couple but excellent performance

I was right behind the goal, and my first thought was that it was going in. However, having watched the replay, it was probably going wide and in fact, looks like it could’ve been a deliberate nod across goal because BTA and EMC were at the back post waiting to poke it in.

Kudos to BTA to being in that position to poke the ball in.

He's another player that looks very improved under Lampard. Did an excellent job yesterday. Wright is still a lot better and a bigger goal threat, so there's no question that he needs to play. Still great to have Simms as an option though, and he looks a lot more up for it.

I’m just listening to last nights post-match and BTA confirmed he was playing through injuries throughout last season.

Significantly, it corroborates @Jimmy87 intel which confirmed all 3 of our strikers were dealing with significant knocks at the tail end of last season.

Last season was the statistical outlier for Simms and BTA so I’m not surprised that they’re doing much better. I didn’t expect to BTA to ‘pop off’ to the extent he has to be honest. This season may also be an outlier for BTA for all the right reasons.

BTA is playing so well, there’s a serious consideration as to how we reintegrate Rudoni in the team. He’s obviously a starter but do we continue with 4-4-2 or does BTA revert to one of the wings?
