Ellis simms (6 Viewers)

If you’d asked me 2 weeks ago whether that was realistic, I’d have laughed. With the way he, and we, are playing I reckon he could push for 15 if not more.
He's barely played 90 mins total in the league lol

He seems to get stuck in a rut when not scoring and it affects his performance. His xg figures were decent last season, just couldn't convert. And he is still poor technically. But if he can maintain his confidence he's fine as a backup.

tbf I think if you play at a higher pace or you force more opportunities in transition, Simms will get goals. No one in the no. 9 role got many playing slower last season. I don't think he's suddenly better, fitter or playing differently, he's just a decent striker and poacher. He always was. Glad he's finding a role.

Thought his link up play and chasing of defenders has been a step up last couple of games. It’s great to see him responding to training.

He does miss a few easy chances. More clinical and he could have 30 plus.
All strikers miss easy chances. It's those that don't let it hit their confidence that will carry on scoring goals. He now has 8 from 9 games. With minutes played he has played less than 8 games. With an injury free season I wouldn't bet against 30 goals this season.

Personally, I’m v pleased are strikers are scoring tap-ins because it demonstrates we’re putting the ball in dangerous areas.

We had 3 players in an offside position for the Wright goal yesterday. All of them nearly on the goal line 😆😁
These days that is not an offence they were not interfering with play. 🤭

Hes benefitted from the way the team are creating chances, last season he couldnt convert, but hes now had 2 absolute tap ins handed to him on a plate. Hopefully he gets a confidence boost from that.

The quality of our crossing has come on quite a bit, especially from the right. The left is still a "work in progress" from that pov. I'd like to see jds, for all his good touch and skill on the ball, getting some assists now.

I thought it wasn't quite that clear cut for the lino - easy in slow motion. He was a little behind the line too. Obviously would have been sick if they scored it, but with 4 men there and who is and who isn't interfering it's tough in a split second.
Yeah, it wasn't clear that Haji had got a touch until we saw the replay and, thankfully, no VAR so we'll take that all day long

Not a criticism just think that he could get even more given that he has a knack of being in the right place. Sure he would want to convert more chances, everyone loves scoring goals

Is the penny starting to finally drop with Ellis, he looks fitter, sharper and his touch is improving. I thought his movement for his goal yesterday shows to me he jas improved he reacted and anticipated to where the ball was going to end up before the ball out wide. He is a big lad with good attributes are we now starting to see the players with the physical. I hope so i want him to do well aa it benefits all concerned

According to Jimmy87 who is definitely ITK he was carrying an injury all last season so that may well have been a contributing factor

Think Saddle is right and he might start against Blackburn with Haji coming back so late. Perfect time for him, at home, off the back of 2 in 2 from the bench.

It was very clear unless there was a massive divot on the pitch that changed the direction of the ball by 90 degrees

He should score goals in this side but all strikers would have a good chance of scoring with us. It isn't as though he has to run past players with the ball. All he has to do is get into the 6 yard box to get chances. He then has a height advantage over most players.
