But then they get hurty feelings so we have to call them Islamophobic even though they are blatantly racist.

To be clear, anti semitism and Islamophobia are both awful. One is far more prevalent on here though.

Islam is not a race. The term is ridiculous- and Islamists created the term for widespread use.

"At the end of the 1970s, Iranian fundamentalists invented the term "Islamophobia" formed in analogy to "xenophobia". The aim of this word was to declare Islam inviolate. Whoever crosses this border is deemed a racist. This term, which is worthy of totalitarian propaganda, is deliberately unspecific about whether it refers to a religion, a belief system or its faithful adherents around the world."

I wonder…
I was talking to my daughter who started as a primary school teacher this September
In her first two weeks she’s had two children in her year 5 class start with no English and their first language is Arabic
We were discussing how things used to be more clear cut and facist was bad and anti facist was good. And in that how if you were against facism that was good and if you were for facism you were bad
It’s more nuanced now and that’s probably good that just because you are on the good side it’s still not ok to wear face coverings shout abuse and punch and kill people.
Anyway the wider point she was making was both of these kids 9 year olds aren’t the issue and they haven’t chosen to put themselves in this position
Interestingly the first family were in a hotel and the child left after a week so I assume they were moved to another area of the country. They are both from Syria so no argument that they are leaving a war zone and have come direct from the massive refugee camps that are being run by the un.
These are the victims of a rise in racism who are dealing with challenges most of us will never experience

Its funny the people on here who are so shocked and appalled by the racism against Jewish people, but were nowhere to be seen when there was a post about it on this site as it wouldnt have won them any internet points.

That woman is an idiot. 🤦

Plenty of support for the march and her stance. On Five Live today someone said the march should happen today as its Israel people killed and other Jews should stay out of it and not care

It’s almost like pretending to care about anti Semitism is being used as a blanket to get in some more digs at Muslims.

It's insane.

Two wrongs don't make a right

I am guessing this woman was cutting the ribbons down because of the Israeli armed forces attacks on Gaza. But that should be quite sperate to mourning the loss of innocent people in Israel.

I honestly think some people just don't get it.

So again - what term would you rather use to describe people who are prejudiced against Muslims?

Can I be the first to say, I am very saddened that there are planned Palestine protests arranged for today, the anniversary of the Hamas attack two years ago.

Am I missing something? Why would you arrange one for the anniversary of such an awful incident?

I don't get it.

Be a good day to play a football match in no man's land.
Starmer really needs to learn about the Streisand effect. He's massively amplified events that would more than likely have been a handful of students acting like idiots passing off pretty much un-noticed.

I think the 'it's fine because Islam isn't a race' is a really shitty excuse for racism and offensive views.

Islam is pretty offensive towards minorities in the countries it rules isn't it?

Can't have women running the world, they're emotionally unstable. Need strong, think skinned people like Trump who don't massively over react if they're criticised.

How many women rule in Islamic run countries out of interest?

Its just the complete one sidedness of posters that confuses me. Its like we can't call out both sides and there always has to be a war between the 2 sides.
Mad isn't it.

Everyone should have utterly condemn the attack on innocent Israelis two years ago and everyone, by the same token, should utterly condemn the killing of innocent Palestinians by Israeli forces.

Both are and were wrong. The Palestinian side of things hurts me more, just because of the sheer level of death, vengeance and retribution.

Quite rightly declared to be genocide.

The Hamas attack was totally abhorrent.

Both Hamas and the Israel government should be hanging their heads in shame.

Some are totally incapable of showing any compassion for both sides. I'm assuming its because their ego wont allow

So let's tar 2 billion people with the same brush. Seems reasonable.

Don't actually see any evidence of that but hey ho

This seems such a simple and obvious thing yet for some reason seems to be a controversial view to hold.

I can't be bothered to go back. But it would be interesting to see this forum on the day that Israel bombed that Palestinian hospital and killed 500 people.

You have a mix of contrarians, WUMs and people who really believe what they’re saying. That’s what causes most of these off topic threads to derail.
