Wonder if we could do full Mike Bassett and go 4-4-2 if both Josh and Torp are out:

Rushworth
MVE Thomas Kitching Dasilva
KKH Allen Grimes Brau
Simms Wright

Simms always looks decent in a 2 and it would give the chance to keep getting it in the box with our wide men, especially with Brau’s wand of a left foot

Can't leave out Asante with the form he is in.

Problems in midfield combined with 3 clean sheets combined with a tricksy away game

= leave the back 4 alone and pack the midfield

So:

4-5-1

Rushworth plus the usual back 4

5 in midfield: KKH, BTA, Grimes and (2 from Eccles, Torp, Allen and Andrews decided by fitness)

Wright

They will be scared of us or sure. We are the side scoring for fun, winning and looking to go top. So whatever we field the confidence in our players is very evident. Stop Bannan and they have nothing, we roll over them. Wednesday have been doing surprisingly well considering their situation and that has given them a platform to have an attitude that says 'what we gotta lose'? They will fight hard and this could be an ugly game. I believe that's why FL brought on Wolfenden last night with an eye to a tough druge of a game coming up. If we score early and perhaps add a second before half time, then we go on to win at a canter. This is what I think will happen. Can we lose? Well yes, but I just can't see it. A draw is a possibility bearing in mind we can't turn it on every game, we will be a little tired and FL must make them remember its one game before a break in fixtures, so give your all again.
0-3 to City

Another word of caution following on from Paxman's analysis is that it looks like we will be playing in a gale with torrential rain which is always a leveller.
The referee for our game has received an almighty slating for a biased and horrific performance against Sheffield Utd in their clash with Southampton at Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening. Whilst he has always presided over our matches without incident, there is always the danger that he will give a MOTM performance for Wednesday to redeem himself in the eyes of the good folk of Sheffield.
Sorry to be such a paranoic killjoy! This is what half a century of following the sky blues does to a man. I cannot believe we are doing so well.

There is a growing push on social media and vlogers for a mass pitch invasion to happen with the intent of getting the game abandoned.
im all for showing support to their cause given our own history but having spent money on tickets, travel etc and its the last match before the international break when we could go top Ill be really pissed off if the game is abandoned and I can see a hostile atmosphere towards them if it is

Must win game this to keep us in the title race
Not at all.

Middlesbrough won't keep up their unbeaten run just like we won't. The title race has only just got past the start line.

We're coming to the end of our first week of 3 games. The players will be feeling it. We could well have 2 more injuries that keeps Torp and Eccles out. Sheffield Wednesday have the 2 home games. We have the 2 away games. They also get an extra day's rest over us. Yes we're capable of winning the game but I'd be happy with a point. A point would keep us in 2nd.

But..... Middlesbrough have a very long journey to Portsmouth of about 6 hours. If they fail to win and we do win we would go top....

Lampard has some questions to answer if we don’t win.

I think it’s part of the broadcaster rights deal. Maybe just tradition.

I think we may struggle to get going with the lack of rest between games, but saying that, I can't look past anything other than a convincing victory.

3-0

If he wants to redeem himself in the eyes of Blades fans he is not likely to start awarding Sheffield Wednesday anything at all....

I agree but the points gap is all important at this stage! More likely to stay there abouts if we go on a bit of a shite run. It's like when you are in the bottom and you win a couple of games only to find you still in it.
