It’s disappointing with the parachute teams getting off to rather iffy starts (save Leicester, but hopefully a points deduction puts them back down to 0) that we weren’t a bit more aggressive in the market. I feel this could be the season where we have a fairly open top-end of the table.

I think still has shown in his shirt career that there is potential of a very good manager there so I think soton are still favourites to win league personally

Think sheff utd will rise back up but might be playoffs rather than auto race for them

It's definitely the most open promotion race in a long time though

I think Boro have had a very good window and will be right up there.

I mean, they are top of the table obviously so it's not exactly a wild shout, I just think they will be really strong all season and be top 4.

Really like their management setup too.

I have a sneaky feeling that Millwall will be in the mix this season .

Yes they look good. Alex Neil seems to be doing a good job there.

Smallbone is a great signing and they've kept hold of Ivanovic who they were worried about losing.

Tanganga going is obviously a big blow

I almost included them, but just felt a bit, meh... 2 home defeats already isn't great, albeit balanced out by 2 away wins.

It strikes me that there are so many potential top 6 contenders several of them have to have some real bad luck along the way. I do worry that our squad is a little too thin and that a run of injuries will jinx our season. Anyway, all good so far and all of our injury issues should be more or less over by the Norwich match a week Saturday.

Always thought Rob Edwards was over rated so guess we will see, took Luton to the premier League after 6 months in charge but all the groundwork for that was laid the years before he joined. Then effectively a double relegation for Edwards afterwards.

Think like Robins he probably needs a coach with another angle to him but that’s why I like him and Viveash.

Sheff U will end the year in and around the top 6
I called them out before the season started as being much weaker this season but I didn't expect them to be as bad as they are. They have a manager without the experience needed, a 1st team weaker than last season and no strength in depth. They replaced good players with loans that had only played in League 1.

Tanganga is a very good signing. They still have Hamer but they've become a club in crisis. There's no togetherness with the players and the supporters are doing the opposite. If they keep Selles they will be closer ti the bottom than the top.

i think Southampton will be up there - but for me its a new unknown for Will Still. He's always been the underdog, with less pressure. different type of pressure currently at Southampton.

People are being hasty about how open it will be

I think it'll be Southampton & Ipswich top 2 despite their starts - both have stuttered but I see it similar to Leeds 2 years ago where they started terribly due to flux of the transfer market but still managed to finish on 90+ points

Leicester will also be there or thereabouts. A bit like Sheff U last season playing average but picking up lots of points. Hopefully they get a deduction that could hamper them

I still think Will Still has to prove himself. But I agree about Ipswich. They have the best squad but letting Woolfenden go could harm them later in the season.

Like us they can recruit in January if they need to.

Portsmouth could be real dark horses this season, really like their manager in John Mousinho. Made some class signings: Conor Chaplin, Adrian Segecic and John Swift. They’ve got an unreal set of fans with one of the best home atmospheres in England, and Fratton Park can be a fortress when it gets going and their players react to the fans. They’re on the up and keep progressing and didnt really struggle last season and that frontline has a lot of goals in it and can be fluid. Only issues could be at the back that costs them but we manage to get by with a shaky defence!

Yep. They’re a decent team and got a very very good manager for sure. I’m never overly impressed with Colby Bishop…neither very strong or very quick…but the addition of Chaplin will give them quality. In recent seasons have seen why Cardiff once spent £11mil on Murphy.
They’ve also raided the Australian league and picked up some cheap, good players. Shame we could only grab Rapha…not a sleight on him, just that it seems there a few rich pickings to be nabbed!

I don’t think they’ll go up but expect them to do alright.

I don't like the proposed playoff changes. We can't have a literal quarter of the league making the playoffs.
Add the 2 sides that got up automatically and you have 1/3 of the clubs either promoted or still involved after the 46 games are over. It's already a lottery in the playoffs.
