i thought that but united have just announced loaning them a lb
The EFL turned it down with others and wants their owner to prove funds for the season. They moved the goalposts on them because they were allowed loans as long as they didn't pay any of the wages.

Jordan James has signed for the Leicester scum on loan, and my Blues supporting mate has just text me saying they have signed Patrick Roberts on loan.

Wrexham again ole, ole.. Very surprised Blackburn let him go. One of the few that I wouldn't have minded coming back.
Solid enough Championship defender, but not sure he suits how we look to play now, as he's got a limited passing range and makes our current defenders look nippy

Will probably suit a team like Wrexham more, who presumably will look to sit in and clonk it long for Moore to hold up quite a lot.

ETA: that seems snitty, but I do like Hyam. In the right system he's very useful.

Done very well considering he started out as a free signing in League 2 and gone on to be a mainstay in the Championship. Very likeable chap too.

Just a pity that effing Wrexham get to hoover these players up.

You got a like for the word 'snitty' which I've never come across (unless it's a bloke with a heavy cold, trying to say 'City' ) 🤣

I argue daily with the blues fans I work with that they don’t score enough or create enough to be a top top team in the league

Their press is good but to do it for 46 games is just never going to happen
Late to the party as I have only got round to reading this thread but think they had a reality check on Friday, they will do just fine and comfortable top half but a lot of their new fans underestimated the jump from League 1 to the top Championship sides

Now the window is over I thought I'd give my honest assessment on some of our rivals. I've seen some say we're looking at midtable now, so let's have a look...

Relegated teams
Ipswich & Southampton
If these get it together you're looking at the top 2. There are reasons that might not happen.. will Ipswich gel? Is Southamptons new manager really all that? Let's hope not as that would make the league way more interesting, but make no mistake, if they click they'll be right up there.

Leicester
So far relatively unimpressive but the points are coming in. What points deduction are we looking at? I think if you have a Championship team with the likes of Fatawu and Mavididi in it there is every chance Leicester make up what will no doubt be a weak punishment and still make the play offs, unfortunately.

Money teams
Birmingham
The squad size is the strength. For the money spent I don't rate that starting 11 as highly as some do and talk of top 2 that I saw before a ball was kicked is way off imo. What they have done is built an enormous squad and they can afford injuries in a few positions without a huge drop off in quality. That could prove valuable over the course of a long season. Top 6 contender.

Wrexham
Spent even more than Birmingham. Some say they had to do this. I'd want move invention in my signings for the massive outlay I think.
Especially under Parkinson I think upper midtable is that teams ceiling.

My Dark Horse
Swansea
I just like a lot of what they've done. I don't think they'll be top 6 but if any of the very midtable group of clubs is going to break out, I reckon it'll be them.

Selected Others
Boro
Started well. Chairman likes to flog anything that's not tied down but Hackney rejecting Ipswich could be a big moment. New striker bought for big money, if he has a positive impact there's no reason Boro can't be a top 6 contender.

Norwich
I'm not convinced. They rely way too heavily on Sargent, the only forward in the league I'd swap Wright for I think. I suppose they could be on the fringes if he stays fit but without looking I'm pretty sure he's quite injury prone.
More upper midtable for me.

Sheffield United
Somehow kept Gus 'worst agent in the world Hamer' again. Made a few panic signings at the end, but these look way off a top 6 team right now.

Bristol City
My dark horse from last season season which ended up being a decent prediction. They've started quite well but I don't see it happening again personally.

West Brom
They've built a very solid looking team but they've sold their 2 standout players to do so. I'm torn, part of me thinks top 6 contender another part thinks they lack the star quality to do so.

I don't think there are any other teams worth mentioning in the top 6 conversation.
So when we stack ourselves up against the above do I see us as a 'midtable' side?
The answer is no absolutely not, it's not wet your pants time just because we could/should have done a bit more in the window. Make no mistake, our high end players are some of the best in the league, no question.

Where do I see us?
If we're lucky with injuries before Jan, where we simply have to strengthen, I can see us as high as 4th. If we're not so lucky I'd still really struggle to see us any lower than 8th unless you're talking a real freak run of injuries.
We're a solid play off team at best, a play off challenger at worst. It's not all bad is it?

Anyway, enjoy the season everyone. If any other fans read this forum.. Blues, Leicester, Blunts, you are horrible clubs and I hope you go out of business. Everyone else, have an enjoyable season except for when you play the Sky Blue shaggers.

Agree with nearly all of that I think!

Tomrad85 is always right?!

Where do you think we finish? I'm talking to the real Sparks, not the one who is seemingly trying to get Matt Smith as riled as possible.
tough one. I think even with a lack of depth we can still hit the top 6 but it heavily relies on Grimes, Haji and EMC not getting injured.

If they do and we end up with KKH, Brau or MVE on the wings with Simms up front, or Eccles at the base of a midfield it will be midtable by January

I think Boro have had a very good window and will be right up there.

I mean, they are top of the table obviously so it's not exactly a wild shout, I just think they will be really strong all season and be top 4.

They have started strong then fallen away fairly often, we’ll see. We have shown for the last 3 seasons that being in a crap position even in November/December isn’t fatal.
