If we're going to start enforcing the ministerial code, which wouldn't be a bad thing, how many MPs will be left?
The ministerial code sets out the expected standards of conduct for ministers in their roles.

Ministers are expected to follow seven principles:
  • Selflessness
  • Integrity
  • Objectivity
  • Accountability
  • Openness
  • Honesty
  • Leadership

I assume it’s just for ministers?

So do you think Rayners should resign or not Dominic?

What about Farage?

Farage can’t resign as he doesn’t have a ministerial position. What are you on about?

She took £165,000 out of the trust for her own personal use

From what I have read that was the purchase price paid to her by the trust for acquiring a quarter share in the Manchester house. It's not necessarily wrong but great care is required as a trustee cannot benefit personally from a trust.

Dealings between the trust and a trustee would need to be permitted by the trust deed, the other trustees would need to agree and the fairness of the price paid would need to be justified by independent valuations.

What's the difference then Dominic?

Well one difference is he hasn’t actually breached HMRC rules

Regardless of that his leadership isn’t an issue as isn’t Rayners deputy leadership? I think you are a bit confused.

Oh is Rayner resigning her deputy leadership?

The clever move, from the point of view of her own self-interest, would probably be to resign from that position but stand in the ensuing party election.

She is supposedly very popular with the party members, in which case she would probably be re-elected. That would give her a stronger mandate and she could even more of a thorn in Starmer’s side.

There is no difference.

They have both paid less stamp duty than they were supposed to.

The reaction is VERY different. The hypocrisy is staggering.
