Absolutely. We are a much better clubI'm sure he's coming to us after turning down Wolves .....

After sleeping on it.Insanity if we saw us the last two seasons and thought what we needed was fewer players of quality.
I doubt we paid cash.
It wasn't a curveball, they'd have been working on it for months and King explicitly said that it wouldn't affect the transfer activity.Regardless of how we or who paid it, I definitely think it was a curveball.
Even before the stadium, it was pretty clear we needed to sell somebody before buying.
We've balanced the books nicely now. I know people won't like that because there's a clear desperation to get promoted.

The reality of the situation is that we haven't had offers for our players we thought would materialise and we've not been able to get our targets over the line because of it.
When injuries, suspensions and being knackered hit, our bench looks like this...After sleeping on it.
We have the best right back in the league and another right back( who's pretty versatile) on the bench who would walk into more than half the teams in the league.
We have 3 absolute top quality centre backs. Top 6 material. Lats as back up isnt bad at all.
A better keeper than Wilson and Collins.
What's not to like.
Kept our best players. We will still likely have on the bench vs Norwich:
Simms
Asante
Eccles
Allen
Kane Hesler
Thomas
Bidwell
Wilson
That's a strong bench!
Not to mention arguably the best player in the league.
I remember he was good at Derby but what level is he at now?So looking at our squad and squad size, we’ve got three spaces we can add.
Imagine the priority is a left winger, CM, and a ST (as assume Asante will be used on the RW now).
Tom Lawrence seems an obvious one, played under Lampard before and covers both EMC (right footed left winger) and Rudoni. Don’t imagine he wouldn’t fit within our wage budget and seems a quick fix to our wing depth.
The books will be interesting but as we saw with a decade of sisu ultimately meaningless and have no impact on the clubs success on the pitch. I don’t think it was but if you’re saying it was promotion or stadium IMO we made the wrong choice.
I get that, I just think we need the cover on the wings now especially when so much of our system relies on it.I remember he was good at Derby but what level is he at now?
This is an extract from the Scottish herald
"After three years at Ibrox, the 31-year-old has moved on at the end of his contract following a campaign in which he was a bit-part player.
Lawrence displayed his ability throughout his Gers spell but was never quite able to put it together consistently to become a key player, with injuries playing their part in that."
While I am not immediately against another Patterson type signing, I would personally prefer to put his wages and signing in fee (which as you say will not be cheap) towards a top quality addition to the team in the new year.
What everybody wants to hear after a successful summer of recruitmentwe just have to get through till January with what we have
That’s the concern for me and why I’d be looking at free agents especially now where we have a week to get fitness up.We have one of the best 11’s in the league

Can we still not get loans in? Not sure on rules this yearThat’s the concern for me and why I’d be looking at free agents especially now where we have a week to get fitness up.
We are going to get injuries to our starting 11 it’s already happened with Sakamoto. We are currently way too reliant on luck in this regard imo
I don't want to go on about it like some that have been negative on everything all summer and there's little point in repeating how disappointed you are every 2 minutes in slightly different ways but I do want to pick up on one point here..Regardless of how we or who paid it, I definitely think it was a curveball.

No transfer window includes loans now so apart from emergency keepers we can’t bring anyone in apart from free agentsCan we still not get loans in? Not sure on rules this year

I don't think it's clear we needed to sell somebody at all. Even before Sheaf went we knew we'd bid on Hughes and Godo. If we're conservative and go lower end let's say £12 mil for the pair. Then we sold Sheaf. You're talking over £15 mil of transfer funds that were available to the manager going unspent I would think. Something fell down on the recruitment side, no question at all.
I agree, but I think not having loans in our back pocket should the permanents not have happened was bizarre. Defence is now OK personnel wise, but we’ve left ourselves hoping for no injuries in basically all the other positions because we haven’t loaned anyone in further up the pitch.I don't want to go on about it like some that have been negative on everything all summer and there's little point in repeating how disappointed you are every 2 minutes in slightly different ways but I do want to pick up on one point here..

Wilson

Lati
Andrews
Perry
Batanwi
Struggling with this last one (maybe Betjemann - seems like the most senior of the U21 players left)

It definitely means there should be no excuses come January to refresh the squad if neededWe would have found money for him if they bid was accepted but it would have added pressure to sell an asset in January.
We had long spent the Vik/Hamer money. Look at the business we did last summer and in Jan.
I agree with the final point, I don't think it went perfectly. They will be frustrated not to get one or two more bodies in. However, I think they'll be happy with the outgoings. I doubt anyone expected us to get as much as £6.5m+ for Sheaf. Similarly, the money for Binks.
Perhaps, but wide attacking players would have had a lot of minutes for us. Centre midfield a harder argument granted. While there probably have been shortcomings in our planning, I also think this window was tougher than most.
The fees sides were paying for what really was massively average talent was strange, as were the rumoured price tags of targets we were heavily interested in.
That would've likely caught King off guard. He has to see the value when bringing in players - he's said that from day one - and you only have to look as far as the Godo or Hughes deals to realise this window was a bit absurd.
Once again, I'm not really sure why we didn't dip into the loan market.
I sat in on a box holders and directors box evening before the season started where he spoke of the Rushworth and he made no secret of the fact loans were challenging due to fees often involved as well as the commitment we have to show in terms of promising game time etc. So perhaps that had a hand in it.
Really?
Everyone wants our season in the sun but most people have had the best 5 years supporting the club. It's great going up to the CBS with a full house and good match day experience. For me, I want to be competitive and have exciting seasons. The PL may happen, it may not.
I don't want us to go silly and gamble on automatic promotion. I certainly wouldn't change owning the stadium for promotion this season.
