Probably the 20 or so games he played last season before his form fell off. He looked miles better than Wilson.I'm not sure Collins 'deteriorated' - I never really got why people on here seemed to rank him above Wilson in the first place.

The one constant in all keepers we have had in regressing is him
Yep exactly. I’d say a goalkeeper is probably the hardest position to “coach ability” out of if at allHe can’t make a goalkeeper whose come from the premier league deteriorate. Coaches really have very little impact on actual ability - the player has it if he doesn’t
Well he certainly hasnt improved themHe can’t make a goalkeeper whose come from the premier league deteriorate. Coaches really have very little impact on actual ability - the player has it if he doesn’t
Rushworth has been here for roughly a monthWell he certainly hasnt improved them
But he was signed (apparently) with the confidence that he would be hitting the ground as an improvement on Collins and Wilson.Rushworth has been here for roughly a month
He’s been fine. The constant moaning about keepers (and blaming the GK coach for them not being magically good) is tedious at best but this is just odd. We’re four games in and unbeaten. But he was signed (apparently) with the confidence that he would be hitting the ground as an improvement on Collins and Wilson.
We're down 1 point off the same 4 fixtures from last season. He’s been fine. The constant moaning about keepers (and blaming the GK coach for them not being magically good) is tedious at best but this is just odd. We’re four games in and unbeaten.
I disagree, you could see ogrizovic in Kirkland at timesYep exactly. I’d say a goalkeeper is probably the hardest position to “coach ability” out of if at all

Only because we’ve scored an unbelievable amount of goals to counter the large amount we’ve conceded! He’s been fine. The constant moaning about keepers (and blaming the GK coach for them not being magically good) is tedious at best but this is just odd. We’re four games in and unbeaten.
Not like you to be stiring up shit, moaning and being disruptive. Needy jester...Bump

We don’t know that Dovin improved as a keeper. We know he started off very nervously and got better as his confidence grew. Whether he was better than when we bought him we can’t judge. It's not Williams making the mistakes on the pitch. That's a concentration issue. The other confounding point is that Dovin improved last season from the start.
That makes no sense at all. He (correctly) thought he'd covered off that route to goal, but the sneaky ball repositioning did for him.Eight goals conceded all from set pieces where the defence have time to set up to defend them.
defending set pieces the organising of the defence comes down to the keeper and coaching staff.
you saw a classic example yesterday with Rushworth setting up his wall and he Knew exactly where their player was going to try and put the free kick for their second and whether the ball was moved or not Rushworth failed to organise the wall correctly and still let the goal in at the post exactly where he expected it to go
The goalkeeping position hasn't been competitive enough for number of years, I see average keepers at the club and when a new man between the sticks arrives he's looking around and thinking “not much to worry about here” his standards therefore drop. Would like to see an old pro in his mid 30s in goal showing the rest how it should be done Never mind a new coach.
The fact that not one City player was watching the ball being moved or if they did were not prepared to scream at the ref....even march towards the ball pointing as most players I ever played with would have done is the most damning fact. I would actually in this day and age have thought there would be at least 1 player nominated at every wall to be doing just that !! Fine details but coaches should be doing this week in week outThat makes no sense at all. He (correctly) thought he'd covered off that route to goal, but the sneaky ball repositioning did for him.
Or take a collective step a foot to the left to counter what he did (keeper would need to know about it too!).The fact that not one City player was watching the ball being moved or if they did were not prepared to scream at the ref....even march towards the ball pointing as most players I ever played with would have done is the most damning fact. Has anyone actually said this? The idea that the GK coach cannot be improved on and we are with the best we can get because they dont do much is absolutely baffling to me
Aled Williams is a UEFA A coach and a UEFA A goalkeeping coach. Which I suspect is more qualified than practically everyone on this forum.
I doubt his critics know anything about coaching and have probably never seen him take a training session. I suspect their disrespect of him is because he wasn't a professional player. But he is a professional coach.
There are plenty of successful coaches and managers who didn't play at a very high level. Just as there are loads of highly skilled footballers who played at the highest level who turned out to be terrible coaches and managers.
Some of the evidence being put forward as to why he is a terrible coach is hilarious.
Has anyone actually said this?
Likewise having a coaching qualification doesnt mean you're a good coach ?
Probably still better than a critic without any training or qualifications in coaching though.
