Usual drivel by the usual " we must hate one of our players " brigade .
Simms started virtually every game during our incredible mid season run last season , while he wasn't prolific his presence allowed others to play off him and find areas to hurt the opposition.
He is far from the finished article but as a back up to Wright he is more than a good enough back up

Surely you want more from a player that cost £5m+ and is one of the top earners?

There’s more than just trapping where he falls short. Link up play is dreadful and we invite pressure from the opposition when he plays because nothing sticks to him. His shooting is abysmal and genuinely the technique is amateur. Watch him do the shooting drill next time you go to a game.

Is he really ideal physically? I wouldn’t say he’s particularly strong, gets outmuscled a lot. He’s not quick either. As for his heading ability, for someone of his size he leaves a lot to be desired.

Jordan Pontecilli smashed it at youth level and has just been released from my local NLN side so that doesn’t really mean that much. Likelihood is, he probably was a lot more physically developed than the others around him which is why he excelled at youth level but now does not have that advantage.

His record elsewhere wasn’t particularly great either.

Called it at Leicester always on his debut that he was a poor footballer and he has not improved at all since then. Passenger.

Well argued. I noticed his poor shooting technique in the warm ups, he seems to want to blast it all the time whereas Haji though he hits it firmly can really place the ball in a corner or the roof of the net.

As for strength I suspect he is strong but has a high centre of gravity whereas BTA leans in on the defender and holds him off much more effectively.

Sometimes his glancing headers in the box are sublime and he can be quite good at chasing in on loose balls around the box, that's how he got a lot of goals a few seasons ago.

I'm not embarrassed. The morons on here should be. I won't back down to bullies. There is a thread on here , about mental health. Yet day, day out, there seems to be a thread doing, just this. If it was for one day and people make their opinions known , fair enough, but it carries on day, after day. Simms, is the latest one, again. He has played in 2 games, scored a goal, won a game, as a result. He didn't play badly, the other night. Certainly, a lot worse, than him, but no , it's back to Simms. I'll be leaving the forum, after this, because it is a cesspit and an embarrassment to Cov City. Same usual suspects. There are about 8 and they dominate.

He was our second worst rated player. Majority of games he plays he’s the worst.

He won’t read this forum either. And even if he does, it’s part and parcel of being a footballer. I’m sure he doesn’t really care when he’s collecting his 20 bags a week.

We did this to death in preseason. BTA and Simms have decent goal scoring records in the championship, they are capable of filling in for Haji.

The same Haji Wright you and many others wanted to play LW and continued to trot out the line ‘he looks better down the left’ when in reality, that was only the case for 2 months in 2023/24. Since then, he’s scored most of his goals playing upfront.

Whatever your opinion on BTA/Simms, clearly wingers are a higher priority. Sakamoto is injured and EMC is having his minutes managed and we’re still in August. BTA isn’t an out and out winger and we’ve had KKH and Brau fill in out wide.

That will actually cost us because the top teams in this division that will have wingers that will individually score 8-15 goals.

Hopefully some also-ran club decides he's worth a risk as a late window panic buy so we can stop having these conversations about a player who clearly isn't good enough.
Footballers are paid a lot, fans talk about them when they aren't good. I don't agree with going to players personal accounts or tagging them, its the sign of an absolute dickhead... but we can discuss whatever the hell we want on here. Any success Simms has had at the club has come playing in a 2, even the flicker of form he showed last season when we went 5 at the back due to injury.

But we're not going to play that way so better for everyone that he moves on.
