A striker is supposed to score goals - no?
His confidence seems shot and we can’t baby sit him forever.
I would consider loaning him out until January at least.

I think Simms would be ok in league 1
He has had just under two and a half seasons in the Championship and scored 26 league goals. In his one season in league 1 he got 8 in 21 games. He also scored 5 in 17 Scottish Premiership games.
A top half team in League 1 would be ideal for him I think.
Hes a poor man's Maxime Biamou

13 League goals in 46 appearances, so a ratio approaching 1 goal every 4 games.

That's for the guy your playing as your main CF.

Not brilliant is it, and that's the most goals hes ever scored in a season.

Funnily enough you neglected to mention the 6 goals in 43 appearances from last season. Did you forget that? I guess it must of slipped your mind 🤔
19 in a season, put him in the top 7/8 in the league, probably top 4.

Why? Nothing mental about it. He just isn’t a good footballer.
There are aspects of his game, such as his trapping, that leave a lot to be desired.

However a lot of other things he can do. Physically he's ideal. Tall, strong, not a slouch. He's shown at youth level and in his loans before joining us he knows how to find the net. He's even shown that here occassionally.

the biggest barrier to him being a good centre forward is in his head.

I think it was 15, but you may be right. Still a lot of goals
He had a decent half season, lord knows what happened to him after that, his form deserted him, and now hes slipped down the pecking order.

I realised after the first few games that he was a very poor player (he was truelly shocking in pre season away at Exeter in fact) but I hoped he would come good, his little run of scoring showed promise, but he never managed to repeat it, I think its fair to say he needs a new challenge now.

It's pointless knocking the guy now, we just need to find him a new home, somehow.

Here we go..When him and Assante played basically 2 up front when, Wright was injured. Him and Assante scored goals, we won games and a ridiculous amount of points, which saved our season.. it was Wights turn to get abused, after the playoffs. Now Simms, even though he hasn't played. I'll expect loads of smiley emojis from the brain dead, saddlebrains and Grendel included..it is pathetic.

I just don’t think he is naturally the kind of ruthless, aggressive person that his physique suggests he should be. I know it’s tempting to say he could be a top player if he could somehow overturn that but I don’t think it’s the kind of thing that can be taught, he is who he is at this point. He is past the stage of his career where his physical attributes alone can make him succeed.

Usual drivel by the usual " we must hate one of our players " brigade .
Simms started virtually every game during our incredible mid season run last season , while he wasn't prolific his presence allowed others to play off him and find areas to hurt the opposition.
He is far from the finished article but as a back up to Wright he is more than a good enough back up

Brilliant post , this forum has turned into a sewer, it was Wright after the playoffs, now Simms. Grendel leading the charge, followed by Saddlebrains.

I agree with the point your making, but that's why I'd love for a psychologist to work on him. It's what they're paid to do.

Simms seems like a very quiet, reserved, even introverted, person. And that's great. They tend to be very considerate, thoughtful people. But I'd love to see if someone could get into his head and show him he can use his advantages in a game fairly and still be that person.

Wright received quite justifiable criticism for his abject performances in the play off games against Sunderland, and his piss poor run in to the end of the season.

He's now getting the plaudits for starting the season looking like he actually could give a fuck.

Im sure that has nothing whatsoever to do with there being a world cup place up for grabs next summer.
My lad was looking for Pochetino in the stands because of Wright performance 🤣🤣

Can this forum not be taken down? It is embarrassing to the forum and Cov City and unfair on Simms, 3 games in, it is pathetic, he hasn't played.

What an absolutely wimpy response - calling for the forum to be taken down because of peoples opinions on Simms ffs

Plus why do you think he's not playing? Because he's not good enough - unbelievably feeble comment

Simms hasn't suddenly become crap. He just doesn't suit the way we play. His 1st touch isn't good enough and he isn't the type of player to get the ball and make things happen. For his size he should dominate in the box more.

For all his faults BTA is the type of striker we need. Gets the ball and creates havoc in the defence.

You just have to love it when someone knows more than Lampard and wants the world to know.

Maybe most of us are missing something and we would be doing better with Simms in our 1st team 🤔
