Got to get another who can play up top if we let him go

Absolutely.

It is clear that FL doesn’t want to pick Simms or Bassette, so we really only have Haji and BTA as our senior strike force. We are only an injury or two away from being in real trouble up front.

Reminds me a bit of Emile Heskey Seems to have the physical attributes to be a nightmare for defenders but you hardly ever see it. Quite a few other champ sides were in for him when we signed him apparently. So I refuse to believe he’s awful.

But the problem is that everything has to be perfect for him to score; the system, the service, his confidence…..
Most good players, if things aren’t going for them, they put a shift in, get in people’s faces and generally show some intensity and bite. I really want it to work out for him here but my eyes are telling me something else.

It’s a shame - but I do think his times up at the club. Looked the part initially, Robbins got a tune out of him. But just seemingly lacks drive / confidence.

The worry is we’ve seen some great moments here, he did well at Sunderland and scored loads at youth level - he may do very well elsewhere.

Take a look at the latest City Unseen video where MvE is trying out his soundbox shooting technique with the squad as they troop out to start training.
Simms isn't engaging.
Is there something to see or is it just me?

I think that is the section i saw - he was very much on the periphery.

Yes we need another striker, even if we keep him as a bench-warmer, but the Millwall and Derby matches showed how f*cking much we need CB who can out-jump forwards and get his head on the ball when crosses come in. Defensive coaching has been non-existent since Dennis Lawrence went.

The Donkey pictures didn't start until he'd been playing for a few weeks, it was obvious to some (myself included) that he was a poor player by then.

I got pelters on here when he went on his (all too brief) scoring run, but I always maintained that he was a very poor player, and I stand by that assessment.

Haji started poorly, but was always a level above Simms. He took time to settle and adjust, but that's usual for a foreign player coming to the English leagues. Yes he got some stick, and occasionally still does when he goes into his shell and cant be arsed. (Playoffs vs Sunderland for eg) but he will always be better than Simms.

Simms is third choice now, behind Wright and BTA, hes only ahead of Bassette because Frank has obviously frozen him out, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up behind Obikwu by the end of the season.

Simms needs to move on for his own good, and im sure we'd be willing to take a loss on him to move him on, but unfortunately, no one seems to be interested in him ..... I wonder why?
He was that poor, he scored 19 goals

Its only been three games since Wright was recieving the same comments that Simms is getting now.
The difference is that Lampard clearly rates Wright and will give him time on the pitch. How many minutes has Simms actually played in the league this season? Must be less than 20. I find it hard to see him turning things around when the manager doesn’t seem to rate him and won’t play him in anything but less important cup games.

He has never looked particularly sociable or outgoing in anything I’ve seen. Think it’s just his personality.

He scored in two games in his first 26 appearances under Robins

Could we potentially create a TIFO/Banner that says "Get out Ellis" and take it to the next game?

Why? Supporters have a right on every forum to debate players.

13 League goals in 46 appearances, so a ratio approaching 1 goal every 4 games.

That's for the guy your playing as your main CF.

Not brilliant is it, and that's the most goals hes ever scored in a season.

Funnily enough you neglected to mention the 6 goals in 43 appearances from last season. Did you forget that? I guess it must of slipped your mind 🤔

He scored 19 goals, in one season, albeit some in the cup .

Great - so is that the anomaly - or the norm?

15 of those goals were scored in 14 games over 7 weeks

Anomaly or the norm?

We need to improve on him. Think he will be here until at least January so we might as well get behind him.
He’s not gonna play much unless we have multiple injuries is he- I’d expect BTA to start up front if Wright was out (and Saka was fit), so you’re looking at 2 injuries before he gets a look in.

He would still be coming off the bench in that scenario. He's not going to be frozen out completely.
