He looked completely lost.
No he didn't, he looked like someone coming in late to a game that was long since decided. He literally won us the last game he started.

Nobody is saying he's amazing but the hate is ridiculous. He's just an average Champ striker who does have the physical attributes to improve, seems a real confidence player too. Most strikers in this league are streaky as fuck.

Won us the game against Luton? 🤣

Yep please do.

How is saying the obvious trolls and chip on the shoulder crew have egg on their face can now just admit they were wrong and move on divisive? What show me where they have a foot to stand on?

Trolls? Whether you agree with them or not, many of them are long term supporters who disagreed with decisions King made.
No issue with you startinga divisive thread I'd that's how you feel, but hugely hypocritical of you to then get on your high horse when people start criticising Simms with your 'on a day like today" bolloocks....in my opinion.

Still think he can offer something.

If he can find some confidence he’s a good Championship striker.

The obvious massive caveat is that he’ll have to actually find said confidence, which he’ll need some game time for and he’ll need longer than most, as he seems to be starting at 0% confidence.

Literally did
A tap in, from one yard out? After missing how many sitters? You’re clutching.

He’s a below average championship footballer that will most likely run his contract down with us and leave on a free as no one will pay him the wage he’s on now.

Lampard clearly feels the same. 7 nil up and he gets 12 mins. Got 5 mins last week but it’s ok, he scored a tap in from a scuffed shot against a weakened league one side in the cup.

I don’t really see the urgency to sell him unless he’s agitating to leave - we wouldn’t get a great price for him at the moment and whoever we replaced him with would also have to be content with being a backup. Our striker options are perfectly adequate for a system with only one centre forward, and we score goals for fun anyway.

I dont think its urgent to sell him , I just think hes clearly not in favour with frank

Most of the actual valid complaints were listened to, acted on and rolled back by the club. You can't really complain about that. I'd say the loudest moaners are just holding a grudge at this point, if that's wrong then I'd love people to say what it is. I honestly can't think of a time in my 30+ years supporting the club where so much is positive.

Divisive wasn't the plan but so be it. I genuinely wanted to start a thread where people could back down and say maybe they had the situation wrong.

I actually enjoy some of the most negative posters when they calm down a bit. I just can't stand the jumping on every perceived flaw and disappearing when things go well. It's just such a energy drain.

He didn't play well and I assume he's starting to run our of chances

I still want to see him with our best 10 around him to be fair to him because I still believe he can be a real asset to us but man he needs to show more he just has too

I think I witnessed him in good positions at least three times and nobody thought to get the Ball to him, but we were in coasting mode by then, he'll still be handy to have around for when he's needed, and he will be.
Exactly, he isn't half as bad as people make out.

We could do better no doubt but at this point we could do loads worse as back up. Clearly doesn't fit the system well but there are games we might need to play 2 up top and have a deeper midfield. He certainly has his uses

I keep hearing people mentions Simms has had purple patches but has a proven record at other times ?

I'm starting to see the goal run he had what now seems many years ago as a fluke, and his so called purple patches are in fact what he is.

I think Lampard probably wants to move him on. I know Wright was on a hat-trick today and BTA was playing well but how long it took for him to come on when we were already 7-0 up felt like a sign his time here is up. Desperately wanted him to score today but wasn’t to me. I imagine he will start on Tuesday. Maybe that will be one last chance to show something before the end of the window.

The posts here are not even moaning or criticising, just looking at how we move forward.

This forum is so sensitive to anything but happy clapping.
You can take your fekkin happy clapping to the Leicester forum, they love a bit of it over there.

Why do we look to offload players ? It's a squad game and a lot of clubs would like a player like Simms on the subs bench
But what does he have, he struggles to control the ball, his heading ability is very poor at best, he drops us in it when the ball bounces off him and his shooting is not exactly great, he is a big lad and doesn't seem to have the knowledge within himself on how to use his size..sure he seems a nice guy but nice guys don't tend to win games for you. I don't think virtually anyone would be sorry to see him go and if and when he does go I hope that club suits him because we have outgrown him at an alarming rate !

I think we all want him to score and get some confidence but there's just no sign of it happening, unfortunately. I feel he needs a fresh start somewhere, maybe in a team that plays a bit more on the break.

“Not the day for any negativity, but” … my all time favourite opening line we ever see on this forum.

7 v 1 on the day we purchased the stadium … get me on that Simms thread, lads …
It’s v odd behaviour. The strikers have 6 goals in 4 games games and people are still saying we need a striker…

Yet, in every game this season, we’ve ended up playing fullbacks on the wing. For high attrition positions on the pitch, it’s a numbers game and you need 3 wingers who you can trust to perform at a high level. Rapha will do as a 4th choice for now but he’s got a lot of developing to do.

There will be games where we go behind and if our starting 4 forwards aren’t making an impact, there isn’t any game changers on the bench. Maybe BTA/Sakamoto/Simms but one of Sakamoto and BTA will be starting at RW.

No negativity apart from you telling sheaf to fuck off on a different thread. Nice to see your true colours still showing.

It was of course pretty tongue in cheek, but some of you are very sensitive about him. We are a better team without him, and I think yesterday proves the same of Simms as well. If they're happy to be squad players, fine, but those on the pitch currently are a level above.

Yes it looked like chalk and cheese compared to Haji, who had one of his best games for us - getting his fitness back, it seems. However, our entire formation and supply had changed when he came on, up front as a lone striker, with literally no-one to pass to when he was through into the box (was that another amazing long ball from Kitching, who is starting to specialise in those?), as opposed to playing 2-3-5 in the first half.
He looks to be quite lumbering and slow when he is chasing a ball, but he is a big man and covers a lot of ground.
Get someone else of quality in and i'd be happy to see him go, with our thanks for some great moments.

Always found the simms hate weird. In fact hating on any player is weird but to then get angry because some people don't hate a player is even weirder.
There was people that took a dislike to him pretty early on for some reason.

The guy had a 19 goal season for us the season before last so clearly can score. It's down to the manager and coaches to get the best from him.

I'm fairly sure the majority of his success has come playing in a 2 which we don't do.
Even his better games last season were when we went 2 up top due to injury.
I definitely think Lampard has ran out of patience with him.

I wonder if it's worth trying to convert him into a centre half. We all know we need another and others like Dion have shown it's possible before. I remember Clough saying something like any CF could easily play there. Simms has the height and occasionally shows pace and strength. Would be just as much of a threat from set pieces.

Don't shout me down, only a suggestion (runs to get tin hat) :)
