Since DK said we were signing more 'quality' over 'quantity' this summer we have signed ZERO new players

We invested record season ticket sales- told of our 'recruitment lists'- that we'd hit the ground running with arrivals

Crystal palace's manager in the press this morning is moaning about selling Eze so close to the deadline- as he has no time to secure a replacement

Reality is we've likely failed with all our targets- and are now floundering for panic signings. It's a disgrace really

a disgrace ? I would hate to see what you would say if we had sold MVE and rudoni.

Did kesler hayden break in and hope nobody would notice then? Or is rushworth actually Collins in a mask?

I think some on here would be delighted so they can moan some more

true and others seem to give the impression of spending whatever just to get some players in. And if we don’t Doug bling hasn’t got his chequebook out.

It will be the same fans in 6 months calling those over paid players shit. Blaming the recruitment. They can’t win can they.

We have but if clubs won't sell the targets what do you want us to do?

Get better targets. Part of recruitment is finding players who want to come that you can afford. Anyone can hand a list of the worlds best players over.

I'd rather we invested and planned earlier in the window
We spoke to Callum Doyle back in June, as you can see from the deal details thats why it didnt go any further.

People are being wild thinking the club has just been doing nothing since May, utter madness.

Its not as simple as going out with shopping list in June and doing a supermarket sweep, again far too many think its football manager.

We are now looking to bring quality and improve and already good squad (yes slightly in balanced, but good). Thats now not easy, as fees, selling clubs, selling project to the player etc etc take time.

Just madness to think we have done nothing OR should just splurge £10million on a broadhead for example - thats how the club gets into financial difficulties again.

I think if we're honest we are slightly hampered by outgoings. I thought MvE would be the main one to go but if we only get low ball offers we should absolutely keep. Also pretty sure we'd like to move on the likes of Bassette, Simms and a couple of others but you need a willing buyer unfortunately. Maybe those players become a late window panic buy for someone else.

Recruitment if finding players who want to come and you can afford ? Confused by this, what if said player is not better than what you have?

Recruitment is different at all levels and tailored for where you are at - we are now at a stage, where we are looking at quality over quantity, not finding anyone who fancies coming and we can afford, we could sign 5/6/7 players who fit that.

I still believe we will bring in 2 new quality players before the window shuts.

However IF there is no more business in or out we will go into this season with a stronger squad than we had last season.
There can't possibly be no more business. That I would be annoyed with but I can't see it happening. Just wish people would see it out before reaching for the pitchforks.
What is it, 9 days now? Going to feel like an eternity. 😆

Agree.

But if there is no more business, yes be concerned we are light in areas, BUT it certainly wont be for trying which some seem to be peddling as a narrative.

I suspect Austin and King are working longer hours at the moment than most on here would ever consider for themselves ….. lots of clubs are struggling to get deals done.

It’s not like the past where we were picking up free agents and players who were just pleased to get the security of a new deal somewhere. We are now trying to tempt clubs to sell us their best players and convince these players that we are the right place for the next chapter of their career. It’s a totally different challenge for us now than it was 4 years ago ….

Same thing though. Ultimately whatever the details it’s down to King and Austin to manage the squad that’s a mix of letting players go (which we haven’t done) accurately valuing our players (which we clearly haven’t done) and finding players (which we haven’t done).

I remain deeply unimpressed by Dean Austin and worried about Kings skewed view of transfers after having two generational ones land in his lap and this summer hasn’t helped dispel that.

I also believe at least 2 more will come in as DK will I am certain want to be seen to support FL. I agree with an earlier post suggesting that the lack of a sale to date probably wasnt in the plans at the beginning of summer and that has held us back. It’s pretty obvious now that a) we have some budget constraints from not making a sale and b) we have been trying hard to get a CH within what budget we do have. Yes the squad could be considered to be “ slightly” stronger but acknowledging there are areas we need to improve in. In general I would reckon that the transfer market will go bonkers in the next 10 days.

Here is it “we’re too good to sign players” 🤣 Truly my favourite meme this close season.

Serious cope.

We have 3 CB's. If the window closes its disgraceful. We are an injury away from Bidwell being our starting CB

We don't know what bids we've had for our players? A pretty shitty one for MvE as far as I can tell and a decent one for Binks, which we accepted.

Well whatever they are we’ve rejected them. So we’ve overvalued our player. If I tell my boss I’m going to sell the offie photocopier for £8m he doesn’t build that into next years budget he laughs me out the room, I don’t get to whine that the only bids I got were derisory. If we need to sell to buy we should have been far more proactive or far more realistic about our values.

But we’ve bid for players so I’m not sure I buy that. I think he was expecting to sell the deadwood for millions cos he gave them a contract and now we’re fucked.

Whatever they are we've rejected them is hilarious. Why would we accept low ball offers? Other clubs certainly aren't doing us any favours in that regard.
