My suspicion is that Bobbys agent was approached before the end of last season. At that point they looked attractive to Bobby, likely to be a premier team, Wilder loved by the fans, closer to home etc but a lot has changed since that first contact …. They didn’t get promoted, Wilder left and they have had a difficult transfer window thus far.

I would say it’s 50/50 which way this will go

In terms of the fan base Wilder is a marmite character. He has his staunch allies but plenty couldn't wait for him to go. There were plenty of instances of his behaviour both on match days and behind the scenes which the owners were exasperated with and embarrassed by. His sacking was inevitable.

That's because initially they couldn't pay transfer fees for players until approval had gone through officially for the new owners.

Agree that this year is crucial for them. As I understand the situation it remains unclear what is yet due to the previous owner . Figures that i've heard suggested vary hugely. I am also led to believe by a number of Blunts fans that the club are ready to invest significantly in new players . Hamer is likely to leave due to his wages and the fee would command. the intention would be to reinvest all of that on players.

As we see, everyone admirers Gus, and a commentator even said at times he is worldclass, but no takers. He is like Stan Bowles or Matt Le Tissier in that he is an enigma who is the centre of the majority of play, but if you want to create a 'team' you can't include him, he is a luxury. In the cup game against the Blues he nearly single-handed beat them.

Tyler Binden is the other centre half that they have at the minute and he is on loan from forest. We were supposed to be looking at him before he left Reading.

Looks like FL and Doug think the current squad is very capable of handling injuries and suspensions to be a top squad. They may need a CB to cover and another option in attacking areas but don't seem in any rush to do so.

So by keeping this group together it will be hard to improve the top end of the squad. Its high prices and big wages needed to get any deal over the line. . So in my opinion they have to improve the bottom half of the squad to see overall improvement. Fans want big signings but i don't think we have the clout to do it unless we lise a big player. I personally don't want to lose Rudonii, Milan or Wright. I want to improve 4 at the bottom of the squad., depending on how you rate them.

We in my opinion have become a victim of our success and priced ourselves out of a market for top players unless we lose a big player. I still see movement happening but not top end signings i can see a quality depth signings to add competition and make us stronger as a collective.
