Bobby Thomas to Sheff Utd ? (61 Viewers)

And miss the opportunity to sell Bobby Thomas for £8m? Yeah nah I’m taking that opportunity to get that bag.

If we could afford to bid £8m for Hughes WITHOUT selling Thomas, my expectation is we get Hughes and Doyle with the extra £8m

If it was easy to get Hughes and Doyle shef U would have them both already. They’ve moved onto Bobby because the costs are too high for those two. So what makes you think we can swoop in and grab both of them. I’d be shocked if we got either personally

Yeah, the consensus seems to be whether he moves or not Hughes will be in the EPL next season.
A player with that sort of hype around them will come at a cost, not just the fee, but also the wages.

They don’t have conviction in their £5m claim.

Yes that’s what I want from my reporters, not facts, conviction. I don’t care if they’re wrong as long as they’re confidently wrong 🤣

I doubt we'll exit the window with less than 4 senior CB's.

And selling one of the guaranteed starters is the best way to achieve that?

Its not selling him that worries me, it's the not replacing him.

We are notoriously slow at signing players we need.

He's not gone yet is he? Surely wouldn't sell until we've brought something in. Couldn't even do one game with only one CB.

For what purpose ?
Wakes other clubs up to players who agents feel they may want to move on - 2 clubs bidding puts the price up and if it’s talk it doesn’t matter but player and agent feel better and agent is looking at earning more money - last night it was Leeds interested they have bought 11 players already

Clubs won't be getting this information from Sky Sports, they'll know it already.

He wouldn’t have been a player I’d have been looking to move on but for £8m I think you do it. Try and get one of Hughes or Doyle then take a punt on someone like Pye from Stockport as Binks replacement.

Still feel Milan will go so then you get new RB to cover KKH.

Just feels like we have too many on the books that we intended to move on so now we’re stuck waiting for contracts to expire -Bidwell, Allen, Collins.

Was hoping to challenge this year but feel like we’re going to be treading water and not sure how Lampard will feel about that.

Oh so it’s not untrue then. It’s agents trying to get their player a move.

I' don't think I'd sell even for 8m, and definitely not for £5m. There's a lot of naiveity on here about how easy it would be to bring in a good (and affordable) replacement. Of the possibles mentioned Hughes will be too costly and I suspect has his sights set higher than us anyway, and Doyle would not fit well into a defensive system involving a high line playing 4 at the back. As with Rudoni if we want to sell I would rather do at the end of the season, rather than have the disruption to the team once the season has started.

If Thomas wants out then he’s putting us in a difficult position …..

Who says he wants out? Nobody can stop other teams trying to buy our players. It should not be a shock that other teams will try and buy our better players and first team regulars.

Hughes isn't coming for 8m.
Hull will want more - if they decide to let him go.
Which they aren't at the moment.

Clubs rarely bid for players these days unless the players agent has given them clear encouragement to do so.

When I growing up it was common place for deals to fall down due to personal terms after a fee had been agreed. Now it rarely happens. That’s the reason … agents broadly agree personal terms and once that looks fine the club are encouraged to bid to get the deal done …,

This cucking to sell some of our better players is a bit odd to me. We are seeing it all over the board.

If we had signed a few better players and the squad was stronger I could kind of understand it, but that is not the case.
