Unfortunately i think you are right.

Hopefully the experiment doesn't last much longer, but I won't hold my breath.

For me, the central midfield and striker position is a glaring weakness as it stands (if we do set up that way).

It isn't a bad team by any stretch, but I would like a couple of new players in if we can.

Nothing wrong with our centre midfield

Opening day and home you’ve got to get 3 points and set the tone.

I hope it’s Grimes and Torp rather thanks Grimes and Sheaf. The former works much better back to front.

Will be interesting to see if it’s BTA or Simms who starts.
Exactly this AFC, we’ve not started well enough the last few seasons for one reason or another, this time has to be different if we are serious of being a top six side that pushes the top two all the way.

If Hull come to play we should win. If they come to park the bus it will be much harder.

They will most probably defend like their lives depend on it and hit us on the break. As we have Rushworth I'm more confident than when I predicted the Plymouth win at the end of last season. They had the players to pull our defence apart. But it still won't be as easy as many think unless we get an early goal.

2-1 to the mighty Sky Blues

You'd start a brand new CB in the first game of the season?

and dropping Saka?

Hull fans have been saying they've been playing high-press, attacking football in pre-season, which could work in our favour

It would. If we were at their place I would look forward to it. But its an away game for them so expect the dreaded parking of the bus.

You never know they could see it as a game with nothing to lose and it's a game of lots of goals.

I'd go:

Rushworth
MvE* Thomas Kitching Dasilva
Torp Grimes Rudoni
Sakamoto Wright* EMC

Wilson, Lati, KKH, Brau, Sheaf, Allen, Rapha, BTA, Simms

*Assuming MvE hasn't been sold and Wright is fit enough.

I think Lampard will play Sheaf instead of Torp and Collins may be on the bench if Wilson is having time off because of his child being born.

Theres far bigger fires in the squad to put out than CM

That perception is actually my concern. I think there's a few glaringly obvious flaws, of which this is one of them. We might fix the others with a bit more priority, but to use everyone's favourite word, I feel like we are sleepwalking into this one.

Are you still certain that KKH starts at left back?

Tough, scrappy game. Neither side impress. Unimpressive lack of speed in transition from defence, despite Rushworth's best efforts. 2nd half improvement as Frank gives them a kick up the arse. Things improve further when Torp and Simms come on in the 70th minute. Late winner from Simms

Something like that anyway...
