What idiots they are. They should try and get the ball to our prolific strikers.I don't think it helps, both Sakamoto and EMC seem to want to beat the defender 3 or 4 times and then play the ball backwards
And I see that as exactly the issue, why the hell sprint forward, take on 2/3 players then look back and pass it back to a defender? What idiots they are. They should try and get the ball to our prolific strikers.
Wright is certainly good enough. The big question is if he is going to be fit enough. We're going into the 2025 season with our only striker we can rely on struggling with fitness since 2024. August happens tomorrow. Our 1st game is just over a week away. Do we risk our other strikers that got a total of 10 goals between them last season keeping up with the pace until Wright is fit?Wright is good enough. If the plan is for him to be first choice I don't think it's a "glaring weakness" at all.
The issue is we have too many players for the position (Wright, Simms, BTA, Bassette) and of those Wright & Simms are on big wages while BTA is probably on a decent one too. So I assume we'd have to get rid to bring in another really.

Excuse me. I'm not right in the head but I still can't understand those who think this could be a good move.
problem is we haven’t got forwards that suit our system, start the season with simms or BTA and your Going to get found out the same as last season, we got away with not having one because we scored goals from all over ( finished 4th top scorers ) just can’t see us getting another one in ?Just for some perspective…
When Hamer left, we spent 12 months arguing that the midfield was the weak link. If only that was sorted, we would be challenging. Today, we all feel we have a wealth of riches in midfield (relatively speaking)…
Then we decided it was our defence that was the main issue, and if we only had a decent left back - in particular - it would all be fine. Then Bidwell had a little run of form, and JDS came good at the end of the season for a few games, and we signed Brau / KKH.
We then spent the last 3 months saying the lack of a decent goalkeeper - in Dovin’s absence - was the main reason we wouldn’t be promoted this season. We now have Rushworth. Sorted.
So, now I guess it’s the forward line’s turn…
There is no denying that Simms has been out of form for an entire season, and Wright was abysmal during the playoffs (injured perhaps?) - but we all know that, on their day, they can be very good/effective (anyone remember the game against Wolves in the FA Cup QF?)
They might hit form at the start of the season. Or they might not. Either way, when you consider the squad improvements over the last few years, we have systematically improved the weaker areas of the squad…
I imagine we’re actively looking at other options up-front, but - if not - I trust that the club is making prudent decisions, within our budget parameters, and the management team is backing our current strikers to ‘come good’ again. Until something changes, then we should continue to back them too.

Doyle isn't signing. A few people have a fantasy that isn't happening. Why not reply to other fantasies? Is this the thread we talk about Doyle signing?
Was a joke based on taking over the Doyle thread talking about strikers…Doyle isn't signing. A few people have a fantasy that isn't happening. Why not reply to other fantasies?
In theory, Simms could suit our play - he has all of the attributes - he just doesn’t seem to deploy them consistently.problem is we haven’t got forwards that suit our system, start the season with simms or BTA and your Going to get found out the same as last season, we got away with not having one because we scored goals from all over ( finished 4th top scorers ) just can’t see us getting another one in ?
I'm sorry but as you're a new member I will admit I don't see concealed jokes because of my autism. My gift is numbers and working out information given. Without seeing someone's face I haven't got a clue if someone is taking the piss or being serious. Was a joke based on taking over the Doyle thread talking about strikers…
Ideally we'd play Wright on the left, where he's far more of a goal threat than EMC, and have another CF up front.Don’t get all this we’re desperate for a striker, if wright stays fit he’ll get the goals we need, 12 in 29 games, he’d of got 20 easily, hopefully he doesn’t miss too many games and stays fit, he’ll be fine
EMC got more goals and assists than Haji did at LW last season. Haji’s best position is also upfront.Ideally we'd play Wright on the left, where he's far more of a goal threat than EMC, and have another CF up front.
EMC scored 5 league goals last season, I'd bet that Wright would score more than 5 if played on the left wing.EMC got more goals and assists than Haji did at LW last season. Haji’s best position is also upfront.
Our style of play now certainly doesn’t suit Simms. A good percentage of his goals are when the ball is played just in front of him and he hits it first time like against Man U.Or is it our style of play?![]()
I know this is not a popular concensus but I think BTA will do okay for us if he starts regularly and down the middle. I think he just needs to get on a little run to get going.
If he starts v Hull I think he will score 2.
What type of hat? What a precise prediction - if that brainless over-excited puppy scores 2 I'll eat my hat
What type of hat?
19 league goals in 2 seasons combined makes Simms a proven 20 goal a season striker didn't you know. Can we please stop with "20 goal a season strikers" too.
\Wright got 16 and Simms 13 in the league. They both got 19 counting cup games but our priority is promotion.
Here is a classic example of the bad side of social media, people being given a platform to offer "opinions" like that.Just seen someone on X suggest Rudoni play up front if we don’t sign a striker
