Totally agree but there are surely other areas that need addressing first .
The most important thing for me is the drop off in quality when the first choices aren't fit ,rested, suspended . Eccles offers very little drop off in that respect but look at Binks ,Lati,BTA , Bassette and the drop off is considerable

With Allen I feel if he was has one good game(which he often does) it buys him enough credit for a run of 4-5 shit ones with many fans. Other players do not get that same mercy

We can't have that though and he needs to go

Striker wise I still think BTA is a good player tbh. If he dribbled past 3 plYers and loses it people focus on losing it solely. He gets no mercy from majority of fans unlike Allen

Id sell Simms if good offer came in. He just doesn't seem to be trying very hard to change his fortunes. A shame as when he caught fire 2 years ago it was great

I disagree with this tbh, goalscoring really isn’t an issue. We scored 64 goals last season which was more than Sheff United and only 5 less than Burnley. The reason they finished on considerably more points than us is simply goals conceded. We conceded the most in the top 11 and more than 19th, 20th and 21st.

I think a big help to our system would be a striker who is happy to drop into the ten role, to help enable space through the middle.

Think our strikers can all be a bit static, which means we struggle to break sides down at time without resorting to the wings

One area we struggled last season was that we didn’t have options to change matches from the bench. If Rudoni/Sakamoto/EMC were having off games, there wasn’t any alternatives to switch things up. There isn’t much point in having 3 strikers on the bench when your formation has one striker.

A team as good as ours really shouldn’t have had to rely on Paterson as our only AM/LW cover on the bench.

Leeds and Burnley had Gnotto, Solomon, James, Edwards and Anthony for options. Add in Hamer, Rak-Sakyi, Bereton-Diaz and Brewster for Sheff U. That’s a lot of depth that we just don’t have.

The defence was definitely more of an issue. We were the highest scoring team out of the playoff teams yet the worst in GA. We would've probably scored more if Haji wasn't out for a huge chunk of the season.

In terms of eye test alone the manner in which we conceded goals as well was also on the whole consistently poor.

Do agree on the lack of depth on the wings especially if you don’t include Wright as a left winger but as the starting striker.

It’s a big reason I liked the Belgian Striker link as he can play off the Right or down the centre as a 9 while being happy in possession to drop deeper into midfield.

It is not a priority - the defensive record post Lampard could be improved a bit but definitely improved (1.47 goals per game pre Lampard to 1.13 post), and better still it went to 1 per game from Norwich onwards when the Kitching and Thomas partnership was restored.

Why are you making it personal? it’s a discussion on a football forum, don’t get so flustered about differing opinions . I made the point about the defence being the issue and not goal scoring. You jumped in asking how many the strikers scored. So one would assume you felt goalscoring was an issue not the defence.
