So England go through by virtue of winning the back pass challenge!
Just watched the "highlights"! That was hard enough to watch. How anybody sat through 120 mins + pens of that dross is beyond me.
I'm a sucker for the hype though. Same as when a new DC film comes out. I get sucked in by the trailer and the hype and think "maybe this is the DC film that'll be decent, it looks decent". Then i watch it and waste 2 hours of my life on ANOTHER shit DC film, but I'll still go through it all again once the next DC film comes out. It's exactly the same with the women's footy. I get sucked in to the media hype about how well theyre playing, how theyre as good as the men, etc, and its still shit. It's always been shit but I still get sucked in (and dissapointed) and end up wasting my time!
Absolute dross!

Totally agree, fortunately for me I only had to sit through extra time and pens.

Can't believe how absolutely shite the pens were, both teams doing their level best to go out. An absolute comedy of errors.

game changed when she brought on Agyumang and Kelly - ( she who whipped her top off last time ) Kelly could put the ball In accurately and find a player in the box from corners

Yep crossing from good positions was very poor until Kelly came on.
Yeah, which is slightly odd, because all three of Hemp, James and Bronze, are more than capable of putting cracking crosses in

The weakest link was Carter yesterday, unfortunately. If we had, had someone else in, instead of her, I am sure we wouldn't have been two goals down so quickly.

Shame. I am not one to pick on players, but every time she is on the ball I get nervous and she really struggles against anyone with any bit of pace about them.

I am hoping they "rest" her on Tuesday night.

There were some pretty good saves in there tbf!
As a GK, even i can admit there is no such thing as a "good save" when it comes to penalties. You either dive the correct way, or you dont. It's down to chance. And if you happen to dive the right way, make sure your wrists stay strong. It's not like a triple save or pulling one out of the top corner worldie of a save, its luck. Nothing more, nothing less! And the 3 pens the sweedish keeper did save, were all really poor pens. Soft and nowhere near the corners. As a keeper, theyre the sort of penalties you live for. Because if you dive the correct way you WILL save it.

One thing that really bugs me about the women's game is the need to over hype everything.

The tv ratings for the game peaked at 7.4m, which is obviously going to be the penalty shootout. Now you've got idiots on social media declaring it's proof that the women's game is as popular as the mens. 16.4m watched England v Switzerland in the quarter finals of the mens Euros.

You can say something is good in the women's game without dragging the mens game into it.

It's weirdos, same as the commentators. A goal comes from 4 miskicks and they act like it's going down in football history.

It's usually strange blokes as well who do it to try and impress women.

It was in reference to the over the top, exaggerated coverage that has to try and compare.
I really don't get the need to compare all the time. Wouldn't the better option be to find a unique selling point and push that.

I watch women's cricket and I enjoy it because it has a whole different vibe to watching the mens game. I'd be far less interested if they were just trying to play the same game as the men but at a lower standard.

I know it was.

But the vast majority of the coverage is even-handed. Most accept someone with a nosebleed isn't comparable to someone so senseless they don't know when to stop.

Some people exaggerate quality to make a point, others denigrate it because a lot of the time they feel threatened by women embracing a traditionally male pursuit. Both are ridiculous.

In reality women's football is like the vast majority of sport in it combines the sublime with the ridiculous.

Agree that Carter has to be benched for the semi-final, but the revelation that she's been getting a lot of racial abuse online since the start of the tournament is reprehensible. The internet is a wonderful thing, but it brings out the worst in some people. Cowards, every single one of them.

Yeah, just heard that. Since when does 'not as good as those around you" result in racist abuse?

Absolutely disgusting

I agree, it does have a completely different vibe to the men's. The men are shit a bowling, whereas the women are shit at bowling AND batting. Just ask Australia

Well in the scheme of things I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s semi as IM BORED with no proper football to watch

Really looking forward to it, albeit, I will be watching on catch up after the game.

I do think the trophy is Spain's, but it would be nice to get to the final.
