I honestly don’t believe that the players personal monetary agreement would have any bearing on fee negotiations between the buying & selling clubs, it’s just more BS being splurged by parties that have no more than a tentative involvement in any potential agreement.

Not sure I'd agree with that. Transfer fee won't be the only consideration from the Arsenal camp they'll be looking at the financial package as a whole.

I'm not saying it's true, however if Gyokeres did willingly sacrifice 2m euros of his wages pa then that would've been appealing IMO.

It's not just €2m. It's €2m per year for the duration of his contract. He'll be signing a 5 year deal most likely so that's around £8.5m in total.

What wage are they offering him? It's silly money in the Prem. If they're offering 100k a week it's £26m over a 5 year contract. Yes the £8.5m is a lot but it would still leave him with a few quid and give him a chance of winning major trophies. Do they also get bonuses for winning things?

I'm not saying it's true. But we know he plans his moves and puts pressure on to get what he wants. Look at when he was saying we were asking too much for him.

Negotiations between Sporting / Arsenal and Gyokeres / Arsenal are indeed separate, but as mentioned the financial package from Arsenal's perspective will still be assessed as a whole - so transfer fee and add-ons + cost of wages over the course of his contract.

Gyokeres' camp will know full well what Sporting are willing to sell for and what Arsenal are willing to pay, so there would in theory be ways and means of mediating a deal from Gyokeres' camp to make the financial package work for all parties.

However, whether it's accurate, who knows. It's clear how desperate he is to join Arsenal though, so I wouldn't rule it out entirely even if it does sound far fetched as this whole saga has been pretty bizarre.

It wouldn't be about costing Arsenal £2m a year less. That £2m a year sacrifice, or £10m over his contract could be moved into Arsenals transfer kitty. So maybe it covers the 10m Euro add ons that Sporting want or just gets added onto what Arsenal can offer initially.

Want him to succeed in the prem but think he may struggle a bit in an arsenal side which do struggle with strikers over recent years.

I think this is why he’ll be a success.

Arsenal haven’t had a consistently decent striker for years. He only has to be half decent and he’ll be loved by fans. He’s already half way there, as he’s actually a proper striker and one who can lead the line.

He’s also pretty unique in his style and I think he’ll stand out massively.

But if Gyokeres has agreed to give up £2m p/y over the term of his contract, then that would suggest that personal terms have already been agreed, how else could he agree to forfeit part of his wages without knowing the exact amount he would be earning, why would Arsenal offer him terms without knowing the fee & whether or not they can afford those terms in the first place.

Where to though? Sesko was the first choice but they have already moved on from him due to the 100m fee and Isak will cost even more, so what other top class striker would be available?

If Arsenal sign Vik, and Eze then i can see them linking up really well together. Eze loves to play the quick ball through, Mateta has been a beneficiary of this at Palace, and whilst i like Mateta, Vik is a step up from him.

Can also envision a lot of Odegaard and Saka link ups, with Saka then crossing into Vik for a tap in at the back post (similar to how Sterling scored a lot of goals for Man City)

Playing for Cov he was at his best there because that's what we *needed* him to do, in the absence of the type of other creative players that Arsenal have got (and to be fair, we create more chances ourselves now)
