The face of the young man staring into the camera as the crowd streams around him is strong and defiant.
In his hands, the 26-year-old holds a banner bearing an incendiary message: “Hamas does not represent us.”
An accompanying video shows him spurring on others, openly fanning the flames of dissent while many of the people around him nervously avert their faces to avoid being identified on camera.
That man is Ahmed al-Masri, one of the key organisers in northern Gaza of the protests that rocked the enclave in April and May.
This week, pictures emerged of the same man on a stretcher, a frightened and helpless look in his eyes, his legs a bloodied mess.
According to multiple sources who spoke to The Telegraph, Mr Al-Masri was abducted by Hamas gunmen in Beit Lahia, near the northern border with Israel, whereupon he was brutally tortured.
His feet were deliberately broken with large stones and iron crowbars; he was also shot in the legs.

Was expecting the documentary on Channel 4 tonight to be a tough watch but fucking hell. Could never have imagined anything as horrific as this, struggling to get through it tbh but turning off feels like an insult to those who have gone through this horrific suffering.

Apparently some Pro Palestinian activists are considering forming an organisation called 'Yvette Cooper' to circumvent the likely proscription of Palestine Action and to embarrass her if she proscribes it.

Every legal talking head I've heard on various news programs has said proscribing Palestine Action is a disaster waiting to happen as it will be completely unenforceable due to the number of people involved and will therefore undermine the use of the same process when used for other terrorist groups that actually undertake terrorist activates.Apparently some Pro Palestinian activists are considering forming an organisation called 'Yvette Cooper' to circumvent the likely proscription of Palestine Action and to embarrass her if she proscribes it.
Still, whatever keeps the donations from 'Friends of Israel' rolling in I guess.

Exactly as the government were advised, but chose to ignore, the proscription of Palestine Action is already turning into a farce. A lawyer on Radio 4 said that from what he could establish there's already been thousands of offences committed inside the first 24 hours.
The police and the courts simply don't have the resources for this and it runs the risk of diverting resources away from dealing with actual terrorists.
Still at least on day one they've managed to lock up an 83 year old with a 'I oppose genocide' sign and a human rights lawyer. The country is definitely a safer place with those two behind bars.
Edit: seems the 83 year old they arrested is a priest, those well known terrorists. another lawyer on the news said achieving a prosecution is going to be near impossible as Palestine Action officially shutdown at midnight last night, so you're attempting to bring terrorism charges for people supporting something that doesn't exist
