Couldn’t find him or didn’t want to? It’s hard to trust a ball into someone when it just bounces off them.

This is the problem with Simms. If he is not scoring, he does nothing else. He can’t hold the ball up, struggles to bring others in to play and he can’t/wont run channels.

He does run channels the same as Wright BTA and EMC but the midfield are too slow in releasing the ball or spotting the run. It's why we get caught offside so often. Don't blame individuals for team problems.

He doesn’t. I’m sorry but he really doesn’t. If what you were saying was true, then how come we have no problems finding the others?

I was a defender of Simms for a long time but i really struggle with the fact that anyone can be satisfied with what they've seen of him. He offers very little. It can only be positive if we are looking to upgrade the CF department.

I'm not going to get too excited yet about the prospect of Bertaccini signing, given that reportedly Norwich and Southampton are both after him as well.

Southampton have got the financial muscle to outbid us on fees and wages and Norwich probably can if Sargent goes.

I reserve the right to get excessively excited if we do sign him.

We're ahead of Norwich in the pecking order now.

If you were a defender of Simms I bet you kept loads of clean sheets 🤣 I've got to admit I really really want him to kick on to the next level and do well, but he just doesn't quire seem there, which is a shame as he's got all the attributes to be decent.

Not against Bertaccini at all but I wish we'd get ahead of the market a bit. Could have picked him up 18 months ago for 800k. Same as we paid millions for Torp after his previous team got him for a pittance not long prior.

I just always felt he had a bit more and it needed unlocking, but i'm starting to question if it can be unlocked. If we could get our money back i'd have him gone in a heartbeat.

He was playing in the Belgian second division. If we signed him people would have gone bersek he wasnt at the quality required.

That's my take as well.

He looked decent at times in the season before last and certainly scored enough goals to keep most of us happy. I don't know why he was so poor last year, other than the fact that I still believe that if his confidence dips because he isn't starting or isn't scoring he almost looks as if he has given up. I'm not saying he has given up - that would be a terrible thing to say about a professional footballer - but to me he gives that impression.

I would love him to prove me wrong but I don't think we can go into another season with him as our main striker. If we keep him and get someone else as well then I just hope it works out for him.

That’s how it works, Gyokeres is about to go to arsenal for 50/60 million. They won’t be saying we should have signed him from Brighton for 1 million when he went to cov.

I think BTA has more interest than Simms. Said before i'd be happy to shift both but i'm assuming Simms stays, so lets hope someone can do something with him.

Ipswich are chasing Marc Guiu on loan from Chelsea but they’ve said nothing will happen til after the club World Cup. Wonder if Lampard can use his Chelsea contacts (if there’s any left).
If we sign Fettuccini, can only see another striker coming in if BTA and Simms both go

Sometimes these players have been monitored for years. But you have to let them develop and progress. Bringing them in too soon would be counter productive to their development and chances of success. Also while they are developing elsewhere we aren't paying their wages.

Anyway saving say 500,000 on Gyokeres would be a small percentage gain on what we made/will make on him.

If the interest in Bertaccini is genuine, then it's one to get excited about from what I hear. Can play all across the front line, lethal in the half space and link up play is decent. The thing to work on is physicality 1v1 vs a defender.

Fingers crossed it's legitimate interest.
