I've not bothered with the second series of TLOU. I loved the ending of the first game so was happy to leave the TV show at the same point. (Second game is fantastic but also incredibly bleak and miserable and I've not got the appetite for that in my choice of TV at the moment)

Watching on You Tube 'Source to Sea down the river Thames without leaving it'. Its an 8 part series as exactly what it says in the title. It's quite watchable. He starts in Gloucestershire at Thames Head which is virtually dry, walks the start of it through the river and further down picks up his kayak. Not for everyone but I'm kinda enjoying it. The guy is called Ed Pratt and is very likeable.

If you like this sort of programme, have you watched Canal Boat Diaries ?

Series six has just started on U&Yesterday.

It`s about a very likeable fella, who gave up his old life, to live and wander around the UK canals on his old canal boat.

It`s almost like an hour of meditation, as it`s just so relaxing watching him travelling from one place to another at 4mph and it`s beautifully filmed and interesting too, with all the wildlife on the canals and also all the historical places he goes to and passes by on his travels.

Feel exactly the same way. One absolutely brilliant episode and nearly everything else has been pure padding and very little going on

Disappointing

Loved the first series, especially the standout episode with the gay couple, which is possibly one of the all time most moving and sensitive episodes of tv of all time, but I`ve heard very mixed reviews of the second series, which so far has put me off watching it.

I've seen a couple of episodes, a fellow CCFC STH watches them and recommended them to me. I saw one where he dropped something in the canal and jumped in to try & fish it out, I'm not sure I would do that, the water always looks disgusting. My go to easy to watch TV is the Repair Shop, I love watching them fixing things especially as I am pretty useless at that type of thing.

Will give it a try

Now that's something I'd like to do. Did you start in Gloucestershire and what about lodging, always fancied just tenting it all the way. How long did it take also?
Not into camping. I used a company that organsised lodgings and taxis baggage to your next hotel/guesthouse on route, you pay for the service but it takes the hassle out of organising it yourself. Started at source and took 12 days I think but there are packages to take longer. Lots of companies do this sort of thing.

He was moored next to me while I was fishing on the Oxford canal. He has a couple of guys helping with production/ drones etc. Nice people and had quite a chat. Told him about Shipton Manor once owned by Branson where he recorded Tubular Bells (he didn’t include it).
Made me smile when Robbie asked a passing female jogger if she’d like to see the inside of his boat!

He comes across as a really nice fella, but you`d have to be happy in your own company with that lifestyle.

If it was me, I`d have my fishing gear out, virtually every time I moored up.

I spend a lot of the time looking at the canals he`s on, thinking " that looks like a very good place to fish "

Gotta say, have found TLOU2 to be a dull and dreary grind as when TWD hit a massive lull in its latter seasons.

Just watched the Phoenician Scheme. Think I need a good day or two for to decide if it was any good or not
I loved it (I feel the same way about Wes Anderson as I do about the Coen brothers and Tarantino. Auteurs).

The GLW hated it.

Fuck her!

Edit: She's just said she couldn't have hated it as she was asleep for half of it.

I saw it last night and I`m the exact same.

Visually stunning, very funny in parts, quirky and an incredible ensemble cast.

However parts of it were quite dull and struggled to hold my attention.

I reckon it`ll be one those films that will clean up at the awards, but probably won`t get it`s money back and will become a cult film in years to come.

Dr. Who.

Russell T Davies is really knocking it out of the park.

Last night's was superb.

Only watched one episode with the new Doctor and I hated it.

Found it all Disneyfied and a very poor choice for the role of the time lord.

I couldn't even watch the whole episode, I found it so awful.

Really disliked it. Anyway, my missus and her daughter watched about 3 episodes and then gave in, for the same reason.

You think I should give it another go? Have always been a big fan of Doctor Who, but didn't like Jodie Whittaker in the Doctor role (started off mighty fine and thought they had pulled it off). But then found it getting increasingly bland and preachy.

Always think when a lead actor starts having to resort to having to sing a song in an episode (the new Doctor), it's a slippery slope.

There's a really nice story arc developing I reckon.

I'm a lover of Doctor Who. Appreciate that in it's heyday with Tom Baker, there wasn't much on instead, and certainly no streaming, so it was much more appointment telly.

However I love the BBC and I love the Doctor.

I'll always cut them both some slack, but I genuinely think Davies has got it back on track this season.

As someone who has been watching since 1980 I think this must be the best series there's been. Not a single duff episode and several that will go on to be all time classics. Off to the cinema for the finale next week.

I know some people hate it but I love the fact they drop them at 8am on Saturday morning. Works perfectly for me.

Personally don't find it Disneyfied at all, find it prime RTD.

There's been some clunkers since it returned 20 years ago but the Whittaker years were consistently bad for me. Not her fault I don't think, the scripts were terrible and beat you over the head preachy. The show had always been heavy on delivering a message but its usually just led you to draw your own conclusion, her era sometimes seemed like they'd come up with the 'cause of the week' and then tried to write an episode around it.

I'd say give it another go back start with the current series, it's far far better than the first series.

One things that makes me laugh is the media's constant obsession with it being cancelled / ratings / actors leaving. I looked up the ratings for the White Lotus which is considered one of the biggest hits of the year and a cultural phenomenon. The final ratings for that are lower than Doctor Who is getting in the overnights. Think a lot of people writing those articles need to realise how much TV has changed.

Just booked three of us for Nuneaton.

Fifty pounds quid, as it's not part of Limitless.

Never mind, really looking forward to it.

Quite amazing how the marketeers have changed things IMO.
Hope it contributes to the licence fee for a reduction.

To be fair @wingy , I could watch it at home for free.

I'd generally rather my dollar went to the BBC; to Clive, to BBC news, to CBBC, and the myriad of other excellent content they provide...

...than Murdoch or Bezos.

The fact that the one outstanding episode in series one had basically nothing to do with the rest of the series was probably a warning. Series two is similar, one excellent episode and everything else filler.

Season finale didn't do much to improve things. Whole series has felt like a mid-season episode where they just need to get from the end of one storyline to the start of the next one but nothing has happened. People are coming in and out of the show so quickly you don't care if they live or die.

Just read they haven't even started writing series 3 yet so you're looking at 2027 and it will be the same story as series 2 but told from a different perspective. Not sure I will have much interest in that.

Andor season 2 - absolutely brilliant. Last five episodes just another level!

Absolutely. The best of the spin off series by a zillion miles.

Rogue One was excellent too.

Mid90s

My eldest has been nagging me to watch it with him for ages and I get why. Really well made by Jonah Hill.
