Allen linking play and running between the lines is the answer tomorrow.

Just a reminder to anyone else travelling up tomorrow. They wont allow you to take coins into the stadium.
We should have done the same to them Friday night, I posted something in the 1st leg match thread about them throwing coins over and our fans being hit

Of course Sunderland are angels though, a bad word can't be said about them and their passionate, long suffering fanbase

Sunderland have said that Mundle is fit again. I strangely think I'd prefer him to play as would prefer to play against them playing a bit less conservatively.

Watched Sunderland presser.

Looks like he does not want to sit back and protect lead.
Mundle back for them
Big welcome planned for their team by fans along route to stadium.

Said we didn't create much against them so wants high intensity covering again to block us playing through the lines

Looks very happy and confident.. So let's see what happens.. Pusb

Complacency on their part would be very welcome

I think Lampard sticks with pretty much the same team, EMC may come back in on the left, BTA dropping out for Haji through the middle. I’d personally like to see two up top, changes it up and gives them something different to figure out.

Will be watching from home with the newborn, hope the SBA bring back the win 🩵 PUSB

Would Lampard consider a change in formation at this stage? I read somewhere that when he got Derby to the play offs they had been working on a diamond formation for 3 weeks behind the scenes prior to the away game v leeds ?

The players are familiar enough with 5-3-2 and the box for him to play that instead I suppose.

I've stopped overthinking it. Ultimately we have to win an away game against a pretty evenly matched side. It's not a mountain by any stretch, but all outcomes possible. What will be will be.

Losing wouldn't bother me all that much in one sense, we carry on and go again, aside from having to watch them celebrate and all the chirping afterwards. Small part of me doesn't want to go just just for that reason, but I suppose the reverse of that would be too good to miss. Definitely staying off twitter for a couple of weeks if we lose, they would be insufferable.

Maybe a stupid question, but....

If we a win by one goal at 90 minutes, does it go to extra time or penalties?
No point asking mate, it’s not going to happen, and we would lose on penalties anyway. I’ve got tickets to see Les Mis tomorrow night.

They’ve got a couple of their ‘key’ players returning as-well so they think they’ll walk this. Lamps ought to show the lads this social media stuff to G up the players

Still think we can do it. I'll be happy if its set up similarly tbh with us having all the ball, they could hit us on the break again sure but the tactic relies on an element of luck with things falling in your favour. Not sure it'll work so well at home and the crowd will definitely get edgy if its 20 mins in and we've had nearly all the ball.
I'll be relatively content if it gets to about the hour mark still 0-0, don't need to go crazy and risk chucking it away. They'll be bricking it around that point then we can really start hammering the balls into the big boys if need be.
Safe journey to everyone travelling up anyway, i'm looking forward it.

It’s possible they choose to start aggressively to try and put the tie out of reach. Not sure what I’d rather see

We’ve lost more away games than Cardiff this season.

don’t know where the optimism is coming from

we’ll have to score 3 so big game needed from our so called big time forwards
LOL Based on what do we need to score 3.

You never have any optimism CC84

They've finally sold out. I know the ground holds much more than ours, but this is their biggest game for years, I thought they'd have sold out immediately. Obviously a lot of their part-time fans waited to see how the first leg went. Hopefully all the sweeter when they're leaving on 75 mins at 3 nil down :)

Have we encountered the ref for tomorrow night (Andrew Madley) in recent times and how did we fair with him? Looks to be pretty much PL games all season

In fairness , 45000 is incredible at this level

Never had him, though he did ref Sunderland’s loss to Charlton in the L1 final

It's Sunderland's biggest game for 2 years when we defeated Luton Town in the play offs at home; in front of 46000. The year before we defeated Sheffield Wednesday in the L1 play offs at the Stadium Of Light, in front of just under 45000.

You wont be aware but Sunderland has played in the play offs 8 times and on Wearside Sunderland's record is won 7 and drawn 1.
